I am currently designing my next mud hog and need a bit of help. I am designing my next rig (most likely a Jeep Wrangler) and am curiouse about snorkels. I am having a hard time finding info on them. (how they work, what other componets are effected, whether it removes the need for some parts or adds the need for others.) If anyone can point me to an article, or explain it a bit I would appreciate it.

If its strictly a wheeler, just run a tube through the fire wall with a filter in the passenger compartment. Snorkles usually run tube outside the fender to a higher point to keep your engine from getting water in the intake and theoretically allows you to get cooler less dusty air. A filter will still be needed somewhere along the snorkel whether it be at the top or in teh engine compartment.

im also thinking of adding a snorkle to my 03 s-10 but cant find any kits(probably a good thing since im 16 and low on cash) so im going to custom fab one. anyone have any advice on how to make an extremley simple snorkle. by the way if im going to put one on i dont want one that looks like total crap, may as well have somthing that also looks cool. but dont worry looks arent the main reason im installing one.

The passenger side air conditioning ducts are a great place to run a snorkel. Just be sure to leave your windows cracked if you don't like your ears popping. It takes some work but it is well worth it.

An 03 is preety new for chopping up to put a snorkel on. If you want the look of an exterior snorkel, I would run a tube straight out the passenger fender and up along the cab. THe type of tube you use is up to you, pvc can look ok, but I would probably have an exhaust shop bend you up some 4" stainless or something since its so new and your concerned with looks.
