Hi Legereb, I know this is a old subject but I like coming back to your thread for ideas. I was just given a 1988 F150 2wd. and was thinking of doing something closes to what you have done. I want to swap out the 8.8 for either 9" or maybe something bigger. Build it to handle 36"-40", gear it to something like 5.13, and lock it.
It has a low mileage 300 inline with a C-6 auto. Because its low mileage I throw some easy power ups on it.
Tires, 35" in front with the least amout of lift and no lift in the rear with the larger tires.
I want to be able to splash around in the mud as well as blast around some dunes. So I want a little bit suspension travel. Maybe 2.5" lift in the front with fender trimming, and some longer radius arms. In the rear I was thinking 1/2 to 3/4 ton
88 to 98 chev. leaf springs.
Could be fun.

i think this is the stupidist thread ever. no matter how far up your ass your head is up there, you cant do ultimate adventure with a 2by. i used to be like you in high school. no money for a real truck so i would build my 2 by to make do. and in mud if you have agressive tires enough momentum and not very thick or deep mud im sure you would do fine. hell, i used to take a chevy corsica mudding in high school , guess i should have entered it in Ultimate adventure. i have no problem with 2wd and currently is all i have, but to think that a 2wd is superior somehow is just moronic. my 2wd is limited and it shows in alot of ways offroad . as far as the beef with hummvees i have no idea why youre busting them. i spent two years driving them for a living and i think they drive alot better off road than your sorry ass air force chair at some effing air base. HOOAAAH,  chair force man!!of course typing this i am a little intoxicated so the chair force guy may not have been knocking the hummvee. either way this thread is still moronic.

are you commenting to me or legereb? if you you are talking to me, than dude, com down, i don't think 2wd are superior accept maybe when it comes to dunes and desert running ( we would be arguing that one for years to come ). this is just something cheap to build well i am trying to get a buggy project off the ground. and for the record i was just writing legereb to thank him.
