I have never seen anyone muddin that has been hurt by having 4wd, and its great insurance even if you dont use it, I will sacrifice a couple of inches of ground clearence to have the ability for all 4 wheels to turn and a LOW RANGE.

Hummers are not the best off road vehicles but they are bomb proof and will take just about anything  you can throw at them, *** where a hummer can stop on the side of a dune, your truck would most likely go tumbling down, they do have there place, thats why the military uses them.

I think you should leave the two-wheel drive guys alone. I myself think a 4wd is also better because you have traction in the front as well as the rear for stability and traction. No offence at all for the 2-wheel drives. A 2wd with a quality locker is almost as good as a 4wd with open diffs. except for traveling on snow covered roads or going up some steep muddy inclines. I used to have a 2-wheel drive truck and went off road alot and it did pretty well for a 2-wheel drive and I had street tires on it!

I know this is a 4x4 mag., but be nice to the 2-wheel drive guy's.

As I said before Hummers don't climb dunes.  They sink.  But they do tend to stay put once they stop; so I guess that if you somehow managed to make it up onto the side of a dune it would stay put.  The military also goes with the lowest bidder.  Hummers are great for driving around Baghdad and they do tend to keep the lead out.  But they are nothing spectacular.

Yeah, she's still a pinging along. I've have been to a few web-sites and found alot of info. on how to cure the problem. I'm slowly trying this and trying that. I need to go to the auto parts store to buy a digital multi-meter and a calibrated ignition tester and maybe a vaccum pump so I can test some things under the hood.

Have you tried removing your gas cap and driving around?

I've never heard of trying this. Why would you want me to try something like this. I've heard if you don't have the gas cap on right that you could cause a problem. Before I get a reply from you I will probalbly try it- it can't hurt. I can always reset the computer by unhooking the negative battery terminal for a few minutes to clear the codes if there is any.

Redbeast suggested that I follow the fuel lines to see if there was any kinks in the fuel line. Other than the tank down to the frame rail " because I can't see the lines " I checked from where I can see them all the way up to the engine and everything looks good.

I bought a digital multi-meter today to check pretty much anything under the hood to help me narrow down the problem. Today I only checked the coil pack and it is working properly. I will be checking other sensors under the hood as time permits.

Out of all the possible fixes from the info. that I got off of the computer Ford states that the coil pack produces a weak spark. I talked to a mechanic where my brother in-law works and he also told me to replace the coil pack. He said if that didn't stop the pinging that he could retard the timing a little bit. He also stated that some of the Ranger's have a bad PCM. He also said if the body shop has a Ranger that comes in that has the same PCM as I have but is unrepairable due to an accident, as long as the computer is a good one he would switch the computers for free.

The Seafoam that I used to help remove carbon buildup made the truck run so much better but still pings but not as bad.

I still haven't tryed removing the gas cap and running it.

first off i'ed like to say this is not pointed at no one person did not know how to reply to all. i would like to know where alot of people got all of this seat of the pants  know how at what a hummer can and can't do? how hummer1, hummer 2, and hummer 3 is better or worse, some say their a POS, they say chevy is the best but they say hummer is nothing but  a CHEVY TAHOE. what's up with that. some say a deisel is to heavy up front to be a good 4x4 but a 2x4 an't worth a *** . is the 4x4 heavier than the 2x4 up front or does this make them almost eqaul this might be the wrong word to use . and i am wondering a 4x4 with out locker's is 1 wheel up front turning and 1 in the rear turning and a2x4 with a locker should be lighter in the front so it might have a little advanage seems so . and let me say i like ALL 4 WHEEL AND OFF ROAD NO MATTER WHAT IT IS!!!! I love to build them and  run hell out of them nomatter what it is 4x4,2x4, gocarts ,atv's, boats i don't care im GAME rather it be racing pushing bycyle's are running with trash can's . i've built chevy ,ford , toy's, nissan's, datsuns, and a dodge they all had something i liked . as for 4 wheeling i thought trying to go thrue what ever was the name of the game!! I can read the title of the rag it said 4wheel & off road here in the fl. panhandle every truck i have ever seen had 4wheel's somebody told some body that they need to read the title of it i have not seen 4x4 trucks in it yet i took it as any thing with 4 wheels that you take off road and for as a deisel goes what are you saying when you say it not good off road puts out a hell of alot more TORQUE than gas and with about the same mod's seeing were talking big tires  big axels lots of HP last i knew BULLY DOG puts alot of HP in desiels you would have to sink alot of money in a gas trucks running gear to match a deisle's so money spent in one way and in the other  way should come out about or close to the same . any way too much is not always good down here to much wheel spin and your going down down down ..P.S love the rag with the same 5 name brands over and over..

Hummers are just not built for mud.  They just don't work, they don't build up RPMs fast enough and have no articulation what so ever.  I have spent the last 4 months driving hummers every day and they are just not capable off road vehicles.
