i just got a 87 Burban (for $700, thank you) about a mouth ago and today i was going to to start it up and it was barely turning over like the battery was bad. when took the key out it keep trying to start! after opening the hood and finding the postive battery terminal melting into goo i managed to to pull the wires off. i got new termninals and put in a newer optima battery i just got. its starts up 10 times better than before but with no problems. but should i still worry about that problem i had with it trying to start without the key or was the Burban just have a senior moment?

something you will wont to check is down on the starter make sure the small wire on the starter solenoid in not touching the big terminal that the battery cable is connected to and make sure the battery cable didnt melt in to the little wire , look close, around were the cable gets by the frame.
