I have a 2001 gmc sierra 4x4. It has a rcd 6" lift,i am looking for something that has a little wheel travel. what can i do to rid the truck of the torsion bars and gain some wheel travel with maybe some hydrolic bump stops? I cant afford the mega buck one -off systems that cost 10k to build, but I drive hard and off-road often. any ideas?

Well if you don't find an affordable kit, letting some air out of your tires will cushion the ride pretty nicely. You just need to make sure the tires are big enough that when you let the air out, there's still enough air in them to support the weight of the truck.

(ie. oversize tires and running at 25 psi or less offroad)

go to a solid front axle, last month i pulled off a 6" procomp ifs lift and replaced it with a solid front axle on my 99 TAHOE I wont ever wheel another lifted ifs chevy because they just are not strong enough except if you just drive on pavement. not to mention it cost me about the same.

another option would be to go with coil over shocks but you still wont get the wheel travel you want
