I didn't mean to get yer fur standing up dude!! .....but the subject this all started on was 'inexpensive' ways to get some power on your ride. Last time I checked, a decent NOS system didn't fall under the heading of 'inexpensive' anywhere I've seen. I'm not one one of those "purist" carburated, aspirated, guys who's insulted at the mention of Nitrous either. I'm all for a shot, as long as it gets me down the track before the other guy. I just know for a fact that the majority of people 'just bolting on Nitrous' in my neck of the woods are the type that just saw the kit on the shelf at the local auto part, and just had it slapped in by a buddy or a shop that just wants their money and to get them out the door! The majority don't even pull their valve covers off to even know what condition their engine is in before the NOS kit. Most of them don't do their racing at the track either, but on the street. Then one of their buddies has to tow them 'back to da crib' with their blowed up rides. A lot of stupid folks, I guess.
Sounds like you really know your stuff when it comes to high performance and racing. I'm not an expert, and have never claimed to be one. I'm just working on my rides and tryin not to blow them up over one stupid drag. I don't have the *** or the power to line up next to you at the track either, but someday, when I get there financially, I may just take you up on that offer!
Are we done pissin now ? No hard feelings dude.

I did'nt mean to sound pissed . was just stating a fact and true what you said a bout people needs to do there home work before they try NOS or any normaly aspirated hi-perf. motor but if they follow up on some info. and do it right it is cheap HP. you can buy a kit for $345 and get 100-125HP. you sound like you would know how cheap that is compared to any other HP mod. you can get. the first time i hit the funny gas i'll admit i was worried but i went over and over every thang first. I'm thrue pissen now. HA-HA.

Nitrous oxide has been an illegal mod for a street driven vehicle here for about 2 or 3 years. Over the past 5-8 yrs we've heard stories in our local paper about at least 2-3 dozen deaths attributed to street racing and aggressive driving. (a local area of approx. 5 million ppl)
I don't think so many people died before when street racers used to fix up camaros, mustangs and other rear-drive cars. Probably from the newer trend to race with front-drive imports. They talk about racers suddenly losing steering control and smashing into other ppl, street lights, etc. Unfortunately for front drive cars if you blip the throttle and the tires spin, you've also lost just about all steering control instead of having a wagging back end.
Titan up, are housing prices dropping and property taxes going up in northen FL too? Or is that mostly a south FL phenomenon?

No problem. I didn't mean to ruffle yer feathers there.
I don't know about your budget, but in mine $345.00 is not a cheap mod. That's about what I paid for my Holley 750 cfm double pumper. I do agree that it is 'cheap HP' for the amount of ponies you get for this amount, but us Po folks down in these woods wish we could get away with it. - Then there's 'the wife' to answer to, once the credit card bills show up in the mail box! I'll be facing some ugly music 'bout that time too!! Eventually I hope to get to the funny gas mod though, right after I get my junkyard 350 block - 383 stroker in the beast!

I don't know about the sitiation in N. Fla in reference to real-estate, but it has not affected the Ocala / Gainesville area as bad as Central, and South Fla. They are still building like mad in Ocala. A few months ago was their 2nd highest record month as far as new construction permits applied for, but I heard they expect to drop off in a year or two. ...or so "the experts" say.

They're developing north central FL heavily too? *frown*
I liked how there was almost nothing between the GA/FL border and the last 1/2 hr driving towards my grandparent home in Deltona FL (in between Orlando and Daytona) back in the except for 3 hours of swamps, palmettos and some trees.
Also I remember hearing about Ocala in tourbooks and on TV that it's pretty much a larger "cow-town" under pines and palm trees. I also saw in a George Strait video for "Write This Down" a sign that read "Ocala love George Strait!"
These images and descriptions of how Ocala is (or was) is very appealing to me. I know unfortunately I don't have a lot of money, but if I had hundreds of millions of dollars to spare, I might have wanted to buy up all the undeveloped land in the surrounding area to prevent it from being significantly developed.
Are hurricanes probably the reason for home prices dropping in central and south FL?

Ya, I just got back from Ocala a few weeks ago. Traffic up the yang!! ..and *** tailgatin you everywhere ya go, especially on Hwy 40 ! (two lane road - currently under construction to 4+ lanes) Where do all these 'holes need to get in such a frickin hurry!!?? Bessy needs milkin fast?? Pretty much like driving in Miami now over there! Same in Tampa and Orlando. Wall-to-Wall d*#ckheads on the roads and highways over there. 55K plus folks over there in Ocala now, and growing fast! Huge Malls, Hotels, Restaurants, etc....etc... less than 10 years ago iw was a sleepy cow town, as you mentioned. World's goin to *** in Fla!!
I thought the back-to-back hurricanes (less than 5-days apart) we got year before last would scare people off real-estate wise, but it didn't. Huge greed on the part of all the builders is what kilt it off. One builder in my town bought EVERY empty lot in town and built like mad. Average lot went from 10K to more than 100K in less than a year! Now we have a 1.5 year surplus of new houses. Not enough people moving here or wanting a new house. Now all those empty lots are back up for sale and builders shutting down all over. Nothin's selling anywhere on the East Coast from Miami to Daytona, or so I have heard. Aint' greed a wonderful thing ? Well at least the rapid population growth died off - one good thing!

Population growth died off from Miami to Daytona? Amen to that brother!
So why do so many people move to Florida if most people there seem to hate weather above 70 F? (judging from their air-conditioning habits, lol) Do most people who move to Florida dream of a life that "lets them" live indoors and be able to look out the window of their heavily air-conditioned 65F house and see palm trees palm trees in their backyard?
(Instead of what happens in the rest of the world, where most people look forward to coming home to a nice warm house and try grow palms indoors.)

Wow that does suck! We also have rent between $600-1500 here, but that's because we're the second most expensive city area in Canada to live. The immigrants LOVE this city. And I too have friends who after getting a B.A. degree only got a $12/hr job. There are ppl who make less like $9/hr. However most of the regular jobs go between $15 and 25/hr. Our money is worth less and we are taxed more generally speaking though. New cars and trucks cost about 40-50% more here even though the U.S. dollar is only worth 12% more.
But living in this city is a choice, and more affordable rents in the $450-700 range are found everywhere else in Ontario, even though the pay is usually the same. Most of my friends who don't make much money still live at home, so at least they're not getting screwed too much.
I remember hearing on tv and from chatting with people in Florida that the state was a fairly cheap state to live in, only bad thing is wages are also low which is supposed to be why so many seniors retire there.
Perhaps Florida has changed a lot since the 80's and 90's, cost of living-wise?

I happened to be reading some reviews about American cities, and one person did one for Wichita, KS. They described it as a very conservative, safe place to live with very cheap land and housing, since "no one wants to live there." Also mentioned that "both malls" are boring. I've done some research on their climate and it doesn't look to bad to me. January is in the mid 40's F, July in the low 90's F and year-round average of 67 F. That's way better than our January in the mid 20's, July at 80F and a year-round average crumby high of 52 F. I also know Cessna airplanes are built there.
There could be a lot of good jobs there and still not have too many problems with immigrants and high cost of living. Although it is currently a kinda boring place to be, maybe if enough crazy rednecks like us move there it could be fun too. Titan, you mentioned you might want to leave Florida...
