I went to the junkyard today looking for a Chevy 4.3L V6. The guy showed me a 1991 Oldsmobile Bravada with a 4.3L V6... They're both GM, right? So they should essentially be the same?

I just want to get the 4.3L block. Then get it machined, new crank, cam, pistons, vortec heads, and an intake/carb setup, etc. Can I just throw Chevy parts in it?

There were actually two different versions of the 4.3 they offered in the Bravada. One had a funky "central port" fuel injection, and the other (earlier) engine had the standard throttle-body injection. In terms of the heads and bottom-end, I don't know what the differences are. My hunch is the main differences are the intake manifold and injection system. It's pretty apparent from looking at the manifold design. Anyone else know if there are any major differences between these two engines?

If it's the TBI engine, then it should be essentially the same motor as in the FS trucks, other than some minor packaging differences.
