i have a 1973 Dodge D200 club cab and want to convert it to a few things. One is i would like to make it 4X4 and also diesel. I would like to put a cummins in it. I am looking for a 1989 - 1993 W350 or a W250 the same length. My main concern for getting the W250 is that the axels woln't be able to stand up to my abuse. It will be my work truck and i am making a flat bed for it. I am not looking to buy just yet do to the fact that i am 14 and broke but will be soon. Any information like what axels those trucks have in the front and if the rear axels are stronger than mine. My dad has a 1993 W350 and it has a Dana 70 in the back and a Dana 60 in the front. His truck is a dually and mine isnt. I wouldnt like to make mine a dually either. My truck currently has a 360 V8. Any information on the swap would be great to.
Thank you for your time,
Jason Burgin

why don't you just keep what you have until you can afford to buy what you want it would probably be cheaper that way. JMHO

Put the flat bed on your 73 and use it for work. It should have a 318 or 360 in it niw unless you got one with a 6 cyl. Save your pop cans, buy the w350 diesel. take the complete engin, trans, transfer case and front and rear axels out of it and put it in the 73. There will be a lot of fab work to swap the diesel into a gas rig. The frame will need to be completely boxed. think about getting the w350 diesel and putting your cab and front sheetmetal on it. Then you will have the heavu duty frame and running gear from the diesel and the look of the 73. Automatics in the Dodge diesels are week so go for a stick.

the 250s have Dana 60's front and rear and the 350s have a 60 up front and a 70 rear. but chances are it'll be dually. find a stick 250, put in some overloads and glue ur body onto the newer frame and u have ur beast. p.s. the stick was much better in the 88-93 models than the autos. they were too weak.
