Wow, there are alot of one sided people out there!  I am a jeep guy, now. But i started wheeling in an 89 yota with a straight axle conversion. it had the 22re and stock axles. just had a ez locker in the rear. there are days that i would trade my, and my buddies jeep to have that truck back. then there are days i love my jeep. I never had to worry about my yota leaving me broken down somewhere. i could beat that truck to within an inch of its life, and drive it home.  I went to jeep because of many more options go as far as modification. plus when i was a little kid i always wanted a jeep!  they are both great off road vehicles, i feel the toyotas need a little more modification to go as far a jeep, but they get there the same!!

I owned a Jeep YJ and now have an FJ Cruiser. I took them both off road alot. The Jeep was crap!! Constantly breaking parts. The only thing I liked about it was the roof and doors were removable. The FJ is a much better designed and manufactured vehicle.

Come on you guys, I've seen some toyotas wheel as good as jeeps, and some jeeps that wheel better than toyotas. It just depends on what you want to do with it. As well the
more time you guys sqabble over it, the less time you have for wheeling. Both vehicles can do what you want.

Ya fellas know what would be uber cool?
it would be a Yota with one of those late model supra strait 6 turbo engines, twin the wee out of the turbo system and get a thousand horsepower, that you could turn down with an adjustable waste gate. then you could run all day at whatever the low setting is, then when ya get to the nugly mud or sand, ya hit the button set for kill, then all the gearing in the world wont matter...whatsoever, you know why?
the sheer brute horse power will negate any need for extra gears.and, then you dont have to worry bout any freeway on ramp disasters, all ya need is power, figure a vette weighs round 3500 or so lbs, and with lets say 350 horses to the street, thats 10lbs/horse power,
a yota weighs 3500 lbs or so,and with 700 horses you'll have 5lbs per horse to pull round, that would be a ride, maybe. but then again the little 4 bangers beat the snot out of a jeep for milage

I love Jeeps. I would never offroad in anything else, except my jeep an my ford. ive gone through mud bogs 3 feet deep in my ford with 285/50R20 street tires and gotten through it, while a dodge 1500 on 33s got stuck. but id still drive my jeep over a yota anytime. even though my dad owned aa 85-ish yota and it died at 350K miles, id still take my jeep.

The jeep 4.0 lasts a while too, if you take good care of it, ie. changing oil regularly, and other fluids. I know yota engines last a long time, but thew 4.0 last a long time too. I'd rather have a jeep 4.0 that any yota engine anyday.
