Is it me or is the Hummer h2 a poser. The H1 is awsome, but the new hummers are just a suburban in a Hummer skin. I hate to see a great offroad vehical turned into a grocery getter. Were would Ferrari,  and Lamborgene be today if they made cheap nock offs. It is a shame. I wanted a hummer once, but now they are just a yo-g grocery getting gas hog. Hummer should of stayed true to its roots.

I can't agree! H2's are just a 'cool bling ride' and an-an off-road wannabe. You might as well rig an 'element' for off road. The original H1's kicked ass in my opion but you don't see too many these days. I guess most of them got sent to Iraq. The H1 replaced the Chevy Blazer as the US Army's main off-road utility vehicle. You can still get some decent ex-military trucks from army surplus. Maybe when this deal in Iraq is over we will be able to do the same with the excess H1's they bring back. Probably be a lot more work getting all the retro-fitted armor plating kits off 'em. If you think the H2's are lame when it comes to off-road ability, you should see the H3's coming out now. They're based on a Colorado body. More bling on the way!!

Do you know anything about what your talking about? I would never own one or be seen in one but they are not just "bling" rigs, thats just what most people do with them. The H3 has a awesome crawl ratio and a MANUAL tranny. The H2 actually has SOLID front and rear attachment points and a better approuch and departure angle then most stock trucks now a days. I believe one of the H3 packages even comes with a selectable locker.

The H2 is tougher than you think! It's more than just a body on a suburban frame. and it costs half as much as the H1. so while the H1 is arguably the best off road vehicle on the planet try to keep in mind that it was developed for the military and not the public.

It is all personal preference, but I haven't seen a "serious" H2 out there yet. The only one's I've seen are over-kill show trucks with more chrome than muscle. Maybe I'm not going to the right locations off-road though. The visibility on H2's suck too! Chop-top styling is great for cruising and car shows,  but on the side of a mountain trail it blows!! I agree that I'm no expert on any of this, but all I'm sayin is that if your'e going to spend that much money a truck that's more 'hype' than substance when it comes to a serious off road truck, I personally would not buy an H2 or an H3.  An H1 I would however! And when it comes to pointing out strengths and weaknesses, I can point out something superior on any model truck, even a Ford! I don't think the Army will be trading in it's H1's for H2' or H3's anytime in the future. We do agree on one point though, I wouldn't be caught dead, or be seen, in any but the H1 either.

I'm not saying it's not a tough truck, but just how it's being marketed to the 'bling' crowd instead of following it's older brother's appeal to the off-road market. It's more likely to be seen sitting next to an Escalade than a Chevy K5! I'd probably move my truck if one parked next to me!!My main point is that it should have followed it's blood line in my opinion....and yes, I know opinions are like a-holes, everybody's got one.

They may be tough, but they are no hummer h1. No rear independant suspension, no deep water fording capability, no great ground clearance. I just feel they shouldn't get the hummer badge. They already have a hummer wana be kit. It is called the bummer. Pretty much a hummer body that fits on fullsize frames.  GMC used the name as a marketing ploy, because people are ignorant. Hummer was the best factory offroad rig, now it average at that. Amazing how people will buy something just because of a name.  I would buy an h1 in a heart beat, but you would have to pay me to get an h2.  I'd be pretty p'ed off if I thought I was getting a truck w/ a 350 v8, and found a 4 banger under the hood.

H1's(except the new alpha) are underpowered and weigh a ton. They have nearly no flex, and I would not call them the "Ultimate 4x4" They are nearly unstopable beacuse they are built so tuff, but broken down they really lack in some areas. I would be seen driving one, but I would not waste my money buying them for the inflated price they are going for.

That is the other down side to an h1 the price. ouch I could build a lot better rig for what they want. Thought this was pretty cool http://www.flashoffroad.com/features/CumminsDiesel/cummins.htm . That should solve the power problems.

I just got home from the Sweethome, OR mudfest. I saw somebody actually offroad their H2. It was incredible. Except like 2 minutes in there front end mysteriously locked up. and they were towed out. mind you they were not doing the hill climb. Just slowing creeping through the mud trying to swap paint with any of the other rigs. I never liked the H2s and this is just reinforcement. If they can't hold up to some mild wheeling why even pay the outragous amount for them?

My point exactlly! Tell 'em to wipe the mud of it and bling it!  Maybe we can see it on re-runs of "pimp my ride"!!  Time to separate the men from the boyzzz!

More of them than the movie was worth, no doubt!!

I haven't seen that one.  Did they have any '90's Chevy Caprice station wagons with 26-inch spinner dubs and truck exhaust ?

That's just WRONG!!!    I'm 'jus too redneck, too old, or too both.

i really don't no what any of you are talking about you should see my dads hummer i will post a picture just as soon as i go and snap a pic in the dunes where it can be found doing what a four wheel drive veichle should do but any ways as far as water fording we've been up to the windsheild in water not a single problem not to mention with the rear FACTORY LOCKER unlocked we also have 37 inch xterains which is nice even though it comes with 35 inch bfg all terrains also did i mention the fully air ride four link rear suspension or factory on board air compressor. At half the price of the H1 alpha i could go on even more H2s deserve a little more respect  and i'd be glad to put it against any of your rigs cause if it dont  win that is what our ramsey 12,000 pound winch is for.

Water to the windshield would mean complete submersion of all the engine electrical and air intake... if it did it thats cool, but sounds a little exagerated to me.
