I was recently in the pit when my alternator bolts broke off in the block and the whole bracket and alternator fell off and shot the belt out. I didnt have any tools with me so i was screwed for a little while. My brother in law suggested that I could make it home on the battery so we started to leave the pit. what we didnt realize is that nothing would be working because i only have one belt. we got to the exit of the pit and my temperatur had shot up to about 220 degrees. i didnt want to blow my head gasket so i immediately shut the truck off. My brother in law told me to take me boot laces off so i did. we tied the water pump to the crank pulley so that my water pump would work. i started driving down the road and the laces heated up and stretched and shot off, so i shut the truck down in the middle of the highway and coasted off the road over a grass median and into a gas station where i went in and bought duct tape. This time we duct taped the crank pulley to the water pump pulley and drove home that way! The only downside was trying to turn 40 inch ground hawgs manuely. As soon as we got home we drilled and tapped the holes out and put new grade 8 bolts in.

Morale of the story: NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THE DUCT TAPE!
