the groml that you here is most likely from the throw out bearing. if you push in the clutch does the sound go away? if it does it needs a new bearing. and while you are in there you might as well change the clutch, pressure plate and have the fly wheel resurfaced. it sucks to have to pull it all apart again if the clutch goes out shortly after replacing the bearing only. so i always recomend to my customers to do it all at the same time. The bearing will go for a while like it is if you can handle the noise. just don't let it go to long. good luck!

Thanks for the info. think a weekend wrencher like mtself could tackle this project? or would it be best to leave this one to profesionals?

if you know your way around a wrench at all you should be o.k. it helps to have a friend around to help. if would also help if you had the book for jeep. don't forget to have your flywheel re-surfaced or if needed a new one. You local parts store machine shop can re-surface it for you or tell you if a new one is needed. If you have all the parts it shouldn't take to long. My K2500 HD diesel only takes me about 3 hours with alot of taking with friends. Good Luck! any questions you can email me at malberg@paulbunyan.net.
