Yeah I am only 14. But it is not my truck it is my dads. We go hunting all the time and to get to our spot you got to do a little bit of wheeling. Though the truck is stock and has the sport package(you know the one where the front end is lower) the truck is well more cpable than I'd of ever thought. we go through water up over the hood and it doesn't even slow us down. When we had our '94 Bronco we couldn't get up this one one steep hill, but with our new truck it is childsplay. Not that I am dising the bronco. That bronco was a beast too. In fact the only reason we couldn't get up the hill was because we took this one corner and somthing broke though I can't remember what it was I know it was somthing with the drivetrain and when they put it back together at the shop they didn't do it right and since then the 4wheel drive wouldn't engage. Man I loved that bronco. I'm glad we got the new F-150 but we traded in the Bronco for it. What makes it worse is it would have been mine in 2years.

Yeah I gotta say I don't see very many dodges built up. And though I love chevys(even though somtimes I won't admit it) I love fords 10 times more.
My favorite truck= Ford F-series(can't pick one)
My favorite car= Ford Mustang
My favorite SUV= Ford Bronco

I drive a Scout, but I might be able to lend a bit of insight into why the F-Series is the best selling, longest lasting truck on the road.
I worked at a Ford dealership in Phoenix, AZ. after graduating from high school. My dad was the parts manager so it was easy to get a job. He was a Chevy man since he was young, but his experience with trucks changed his mind and made up mine.
He would go out to the mines and reservations here in Arizona because, naturally when people use vehicles hard, they break parts. Now this was something my dad did for nearly 15 years so this isn't just a recent thing. His experience was that the mine co. never bought Dodge's because their frames where prone to breaking (mid 80's to present). They bought both Chevy's and Ford's. The reservation folk where given money by the gov't. and are required to spread the wealth among big 3. They bought the min. amount of Dodges and retired them when the frames broke just like the miners. Both groups liked that the Chevy came with a stronger stock engine, but favored the Ford's because they lasted much longer than either Dodges or Chevy's and they could get a good optional engine.
My dad has a 4"lifted 88 Sub with a 350 in it and I hate that thing. The engine leaked like a siv and the interior was a piece of work. We've already put a new tranny, engine, ac system, and 2 RR axle shafts into it during the 4-5 yrs. that we've owned it.
My experience with Chevy's has been a very bad one, and I have had very few problems with the Fords that we've driven and owned. I favor Ford's over Chevy's cause of that, but I favor Scout II's over all.

yeah if i dint like chevy i would get a ford
for me im sold on the motors chevy makes there much simpler than fords. not to say they make a bad motor, they dont. but i think chevy makes them better.
i agree with everything you said but lasting longer, only because i really dont know.
the good thing about a chevy that i like is the massive amouts of parts in my area.
i can get a 4banger blazer for cheap to free. so doors windows hoods and whole bodys are allways around. i think that picking between ford or chevy has more to do with availability, for older models.
if you look under a ford or chevy you will find many alike parts that use the same exact ideas. axles such as the danas transfercases such as the "NP" series, and some trannys are the very same.
its not who or what is better. its what you like.

This, skblazer, I can agree with you 100% on. I also think it is the driver and how well he takes care if the truck. I can't say why I like chevys more because my dad drives a Jeep Wrangler, my mom drives a Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado, my step-dad drives an old GMC 1/2 Ton, and my step-mom drives a Toyota 4-runner. I've grown up around all kinds from Nissans to my mom's favorite Jimmy. I don't know what to get for my off-road truck when I finally get the money.

Hey 03F150,
You sure talk a lot of smack for a snot nosed kid. I think you need to learn some respect for your elders. I've been driving longer than you've been alive, so I'd say your experience base is pretty limited, considering you'll be waiting 2 more YEARS before you can get behind the wheel of ANY VEHICLE. FYI Guido Lyons is my name, I don't hide behind a screen name and call people idiots like you do. This forum is for discussion and presentation of OPINIONS, not childish name calling. One day you'll learn that there are multiple sides to anything, not just your own little universe. Open your eyes, ears, and mind and learn something new everyday.

Hey idiot what i've said is true and others agree. (go to my forum "who gives a #### about the hemi anyway?" now I admit when i'm wrong unlike some people and I don't so much dislike the hemi as dodge it self. Any way I ain't hiding my name is Shane Eric Abner and I'm 14 years old I'm outsmarting you who is way older than me. So back to the point why haven't you TRYED to prove me wrong? Huh? Well I will tell you why because you can't. And until you can shut up and stay on topic "Chevy vs. Ford".
P.S. you are even more of an idiot for writing that!

Kids, place nice now. And I'm not just talkin' to the 14 year old!
Ford is always gonna be my truck of choice. I've to give International a mention but its too damn hard to get parts for them. For the earlier arguement, if all you care about is horsepower go join the NASCAR site. That is the only place a Chevy can kinda compete. As for my Ford(Finest Off Road Driving), I can crawl hills with my 300 that your 350 would drop a rod just looking at! And its not too shabby in the mud either.
For anybody who hasn't been stuck you ain't been wheelin'! It'll make you appreciate mudding so much more. The only people who haven't been stuck haven't tried hard enough!
Keep it in the mud if you wanna talk dirty!

Hey guys, this is the most heated debate in the entire auto world. I have owned Ford, Chevy and Dodge. Trust me I work on a large ranch in Montana and we put them through the paces. We have 4 Fords and 4 Chevys. We have a 93 f150 with a 300-6, about 70,000 miles. The frame is so weak that the front trailing arms will rip out of the frame, same with the rear spring buckets. Where ford welded the motor mounts to the frame, well it broke. And the dana 44 floppy front you can't keep axle shafts in it. Where the front clip meets the doors it is evident that the frame is bent, there is a huge gap at the bottom, the body shop said they could not realign it. A 99 Super Duty, sarted out as a pretty good truck, but at 14,000 miles we lost a tranny, and at 65,000 a spark plug came out of the head while the engine was running, Ford fixed it but said it is a problem with ALL V-10s, Due to condinsation around the plug. The fuel tank keeps working loose from the frame. It is a Quad-cab and on our rough roads it rattles like no other. Th 95 Power Stroke that we have has be very good but you have to plug it in if the temp drops below freezing. The 1979 f150 4inch lift and 38 inch boggers, is under powered, But it will lug down to barley an idle But that is any six, a v-8 won't lug no matter if it is Chevy or ford. 86 chevy POS, enough said , 84 chevy 1ton , more miles than the speedo will count in excess of 400,000, but it is on engine number 3 and tranny number 2 good truck still has a tight cab, Posi in the rear and it will out wheel any ford that we have and the 30 over 350 will tear the guts out of the triton v-10 we have. 02 chevy still to new to tell. 89 1/2 ton chevy has lots of miles we have never broke the framebut the front IFS is the weak spot but it still has less rattles than the 99 super duty. You make you own mind, but mine is with CHEVY.

Having never owned or driven Fords or Dodges, I guess I would automatically be biased toward Chevy. As my past trucks as well as my current truck only get used as a truck and not for off-roading I have never had problems with things breaking. However, we do tend to over-build our rigs a bit. ND winters can be a bit tough on any machinery so it is kind of necessary to build them tough.

I have to agree with the bowtie power. I have owned a Chevy, but I have driven Fords and know a few Dodge owners. While I replaced quite a bit on the Chevy, it was all expected fixes due to hard wheeling or hard working. The Fords have had unscheduled, unexpected problems and I am my buddy's best friend because I am always picking him up from the Dodge dealership every time he drives his truck.
If you are going to really use a truck, you will have to repair it. From my experience, Ford and Dodge have repairs whether or not you use it.

We use ford trucks for our company trucks. Which while i know these aren't used in off-roading they get a lot of abuse since our drivers think of them as a rental car. We have had a few chevy's but they haven't held up as well as the ford pickups have. Now as far as off-road we had a ford 77 f-250 highboy that ran great and had relatively few problems. My Grandnpa had an old chevy 70 something pickup that ran ok from what i'm told but i also know that he has never bought another chevy again. Kinda goes back to that old fool me once saying. I personally drive a lifted 98 f-150 and it hasn't given me a bit of trouble on or off road. Plus we liked that old highboy so much that we're currently looking for one to rebuild.

I have only owned Fords because of the guys I wheel with. They mostly had Chev's and my little straight 6 would whoop on all of them except on the highways. I even had to tow a trailer up a dirt road hill for my friend who's 3/4 ton couldn't do it. NO TORQUE in a 350 V-8!!! All that horsepower is useless if you can't apply it.
Sounds to me like you should do more preventative maintenence to your trucks if you are having that much trouble with nearly all of them. Maybe lighten up a little on the Right Foot Pedal too! And if a truck is rattling that means it is a work truck, not a city truck. If you dislike them why you keep buying Fords as well as Chevys?
300's are awesome, stickin' with Fords
