"NO TORQUE in a 350 V-8"  truer words were never spoken.  You get gobs of HP, but not a bit of torque.  My trolling motor could put out more torque then a small block Chevy.  The key is STROKE.  Put a stroker kit in those dime a dozen oil leakers and you'll find that missing TORQUE that you've been wanting.  Turn that 350 into a 383.  It's the ultimate in a Chevy small block engine.

Hey there snowbogger whats up with all your truck problems? Especially with fords they will last forever. My dad owned a dodge ramcharger and got in a wreck and trashed it. After that we got a BroncoII and it was beaten to hell but it still ran. THen we got a 2WD Ranger and beat the hell out of it. It ran great but we decided we needed a 4WD. Then We got a fullsize Bronco and it was great. But then decided we needed a 4WD pickup and got an 03 F-150          I'll always stick with fords!!!

I've owned dodge, chevy, jeep, and ford. I currently have a ford and have had it for the last 10 years. I like Ford but I like Old Fords, mid to late 70's. I wouldn't buy a new Ford Chevy or Dodge, for that matter, they just don't make them like they used to!!! New trucks suck!!!

i drive a 2000 silverado 1500 and cant wait to get rid of it.  i would have to say ford and chevy are way better than dodge and ford being better than chevy.  the only reason i bought a chevy is b/c they have a lower resale value than ford, and thats what i could afford.  My dad told me to buy a ford and now i wish i had.  i guess thats why Heinkels & McCoy buys over 3,000 ford trucks each year.  they just outlast anyting else.

Listen kid .

Just give it up.

dont try to talk untill you have a truck of your own.

The "My daddys' truck is better than yours" crap don't cut it

Everybodys' "Daddys' truck " can leap tall buildings in a single bound and save the earth from disaster when your 14.

But in the real world "Daddys' Truck" is weak and would probably get stuck on a wet paper bag.

What is this? This chat reads like a bunch of teenaged school girls. Arguing over commercials and your “daddy’s” trucks. Go to the garage and grow up.

Chevy, and Ford need to take a look around. Dodge is on its way up. Dodge is becoming the #1 truck fast. In the medium duty department Dodge takes the cake. The Cummins Turbo Diesel is a tough proven motor. Chevey messed up w/ it's IFS, and the fords PowerJoke has caused ford to have to buy back trucks. Ford has lost a lot of money, because of the problems w/ that motor. None of the big three make a perfect truck. Thats why there is an after market. Anyone w/ deep enough pockets can make a ford better than chevy, and vise versa. I have owned a lot of truck from all three of the big three, and a Nissan or 2. Each truck has its strengths and weekness. My ford ruled in mud, but sucked on tight trails, and didn't always get me home. My Nissan was great on trails needed a little help w/ deep mud, but always got me home. My chevy did well, but didn't stick around long enough to really get built up. The Dodge 3500 I have now is not a trail truck. I use it for work. When I have the time, and money I do plan getting it on the trails. First to go is the dually bed w/ a flat bed. The number one reason I don't take it off road.

On the topic: Ford vs Chevy

My opinion: Over the years I've owned a few trucks of both makes, and used lots of "company trucks" with my business of forestry consulting in the last 15 years on the coast of British Columbia.

Working in the woods and in logging camps you get to see and drive alot of different vehicles pretty much in stock form, you also get to "sometimes" push the limit of exactly what a stock truck will take.
We have thrashed on FORDs, CHEVYS, DODGE and YOTA's.

I've always said that everything has a purpose, what do you plan to do with the vehicle? A rock crawler isn't gonna fly down the loggin road at 120 k and the other isn't gonna  climb all over the nearest rock pile.

In stock form I found that the chevys drove way better than FORD or Dodge. The 98 Silverado 454 hauls ass, it drives like a caddy, you barly noticed the massive potholes on the road....we would always joke.."just keep it between the ditches " as we are drifting sideways @ 120 k...yeehaa.

Not only that but it never once left me stranded in the woods, unlike it's F350 counterpart. I could elaborate but I might get scolded.

All in all I've seen lots of trucks come and go, get beat to crap and eventually you figure out what is the longest lasting truck on the road....a CHEVY.

Cheers to the early 80's chevy lovers, and to all the ford guys well.....you'll learn...well maybe not.

HaHaHa, the Ridgeline... The first one I have ever seen was at a gas station about 2 weeks ago. I nearly cried I was laughing so hard. The owner was strutting around like he had a Porsche.
