I'm got a 1997 GMC Siarra Extended Cab 4x4. I wana build it into a serious off road truck, but also want to be able to have it as a daily driver. What kind and size lift should I look into that will be agressive but affordable. Also suspension, I want a very agressive suspension, that wont break but is still affordable. I'm also cant decide what size tire's to run. I need to do a lot of research, but if anyone can give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx,

SPC Joshua P. Wells

Any way you look at it, you'll find that lifts for newer trucks are way more expensive because of the IFS. They usually run right around $1000. However, don't buy a high priced kit because they won't last any longer than the cheaper ones in most cases. Try to steer clear of rear blocks 'cause they can pop out sometimes, cause wicked axle wrap, and give you a rougher ride. If you want a serious off road truck, then you have to expect something to break. I would go with a 6 inch lift with 35s or 36s on it. You may have to trim the fenders and buy cutout flares though. Don't go with a body lift higher than 2 inches to help clear tires 'cause the body'll have too much flex and will break body mounts. I would go with a TSL radial if you are going to drive it on the road more than half the time. Go with Fun Country tires if you don't see too much mud. Good luck.

'78 Chevy longbed; 6" lift; 38x15.50x16.5R TSLs; dual exhaust; 350/350/203; GM 14 bolt rear; Dana 44 front; 4.10s
