i have the opportunity to buy a 79 jeep cherokee.  it has a t-18 trans and a dana 20 transfer case. i already own a 78 cherokee cheif with the 400 trans and the quadratrac. is it possible to put the auto in the 79 with the dana 20 or even with the quadra trac.  my wife would like to be able to drive this around town from time to time and the auto would be alot easier for her.  any advice or tips on this would be great. thank you fireman  

Take the parts out of the 79 and put them in the 78 if that is what you are wanting to do. If you want to keep the 20 transfercase you will need a new adapter. Why don't you give her the 79 to drive around town and you run the 78?
