Hey,

new to the list, but not new to the sport :  )

I am modifying my first XJ though, and I have found that friends, fellow wheelers, have been experimenting with bypassing the vacuum box on the front diff and using a cable system.

Unfortunately the results are the same, crap, the cable keeps disconnecting in the diff, sometimes with tragic results, is there not a simple replacement commercial cable system that I can run and mount, rather than reinvent the Wheel, so to say, I admire the efforts of my friends, but this is my first xj, so this a unique problem for me.  However I do not wish to put the amount of effort in that they are constantly throwing at the front end, to perfect this system.

I would rather spend my time on the trails, articulating more obstacles :  )

So, that said, I am looking for a replacement for the vacuum box to the front diff, I desire to find a pull engage system, so that I will not have to rely on the vacuum system for the front end to engage.  Seen to many issues in the cold out here in MB, Canada.  I am sure someone has something that is designed to replace the cherokee front vacuum system.

Anyone have any leads, please do not suggest lockers, I have considered that route.

Lockers, and such are great, but if the vacuum doesn't engage, then what do we have??

Spinning tires in the rear and no forward motion = unhappy redneck.

Keep the rubber side pointed down, or at least sideways,

Some of the aftermarket axel suppliers have kits that do away with the two piece axel on the long side and a cover plate to cover up the hole when you remove the vaccume actuator. This may be a more expensive way to go but you will be happier. There are also kits on the market to change the front hubs to manual locking if you do alot of street driving.
