Hey guys i just got a 1989 Toyota Pickup with a 2.4 liter and a 5 speed. Yes its 4x4 if it wasnt i wouldnt have it. Anywho its got some rust but with 217,000 miles it runs great and everything works good. The only thing that i dont like is the rear springs are getting to the end of their life span and i dont want to put new springs in and i dont want to spend very much money on this truck because its not worth much etc. But i was curious if i put a set of small lift blocks under the springs would it help level the truck as it sits a little low in the back end.

Go to the parts store and get a set of coil overloads. These kits bolt to the top of your existing springs adn ride on the frame. I put them on my 83 Ranger and they work OK for a cheep fix. New springs is the way to go for the long haul.

find a set of rear chev leafs in a wrecking yard. install a leaf or two out of the chev pack in your toy pack. leveled out and better hauling capacity.

The chevy springs wont be to wide will they? Ive got a set out of a k10 chevy that im not going to use on my chevy how hard is it to swap them out? Is it possible to leaf the spring bolted on and just take the pack apart or do i have to take it all apart?

Well lilwheeler I think that you replied to the wrong person. I sold my 81 Toyota 4X4 back in 1985. I how own four Jeeps. A modified 57 CJ-5, a custom built rock crawler, a 2004 Rubicon and a 98 ZJ.

this is an old thread but if you're still looking for that "quick fix" on your rear leafs, there is a very simle solution. i had an 86 4runner that sagged in the back, as most of them did. i went down to auto zone and got a set of shackles, they have them in stock, they are a universal 3" shackle lift kit with adjustment holes for a 1" or 2" lift. i installed them in the 1" lift slot and the truck rode completely level for the remainder of the 4 years that i owned it. the kit cost me somewhere around 20$ and completely fixed the problem. took me about 2 hours to install them, plus it increases the travel of your rear springs. not bad!
