You might want to check the local wrecking yards out here in Arizona there are tons of fords out here sitting. I think that some of those engines were special made motors with different chick names stamped on the side of the blocks and those are the ones you want they have all the raw power you want. I'll tell you this though, if you want a good Ford motor alot of the wrecking yards here have motors from old galaxies and mustang GT"S I come across those all the time but I never have a use for them.

I'm currently building a 400ford and using a 351cleveland piston, 11to 1 compression. But you have to bush the connecting rod small end to fit a cleveland piston. Next you have to make sure your piston has snaprings to keep the piston pin in piston. Keith black hyperutectic make a good piston for daily driver and tight tolerance on skirt clearance for long life once fitted up correctly. Need to machine the engine block down to get compression up to 9to 1 compression. I wouldn't go to this much trouble if it didn't work for a 4wd. Hope to make around 1 hrsp per cube with 4barrel cleveland head and good port work. Actually have to deport the cleveland head to help on low end torque and dualplan intake. Don't go cheap on timing chain get a good one. Any good machineshop can do this work not rocket science. Just another way to make it happen for the ford guy's. Hope I could help or drop me a note for any question?
