I've got a chevy 396 out of a 60's vette in a '82 chev half ton short wheel base. my problem is that the motor vapor locks like there's no tommorrow. I have tried every trick in the book from wrapping the fuel line in aluminum heat shield to a wooden clothespin on the fuel line , its got a manual fuel pump backed up by an electric one, but it still locks up. any help or ideas????
if i cant get it fixed ill just sell it and buy a ford, they dont break down!!!

hello there. i dont know what the timing is actually set at ill have to check it. the truck runs great when it is cold, and the temperature outside is cold(can only drive the the truck in the fall/winter). and when the motor is not being worked to hard, i.e. i cant take it up in the mountains in the summer. basically when its hot and the outside temp is above 70 degrees it dont like to run.
what timing and ignition set up did you use, and any other tricks helped to fix your problem??
thanx, the snowman
