I am working on a 1989 Ford Ranger with push button four wheel drive, 4 high works but it won't go into 4 low. Anyone ever deal with this before? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

THESE TRUCKS HAVE SOME PROBLEMS. IF I REMEMBER RIGHT! AN AUTO HAS TO BE IN NEUTRAL AND A STICK HAS TO HAVE THE CLUTCH DEPRESSED. BUT OTHER THAN THE STUPPID STUFF, IF THE LIGHT IS FLASHING IT IS TRYING TO SHIFT BUT CAN'T. I.E. THE CLUTCH, GOING TO FAST. I HAVE PERSONALY REPLACED ALOT OF SWITCHES,COMPUTERS AND MOTORS ( ON TRANSFER ).
THE COMPUTER SHOULD BE UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT OR BEHIND THE BACK PANEL, BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT.

Tap the shift motor w/ a hammer if that dont work you can check voltage with a test light, the computer are bad about messin up but it has a self test function- push the #### button on the side and hold it in
for 3-5 seconds if the light blinks its good if it stays on or goes out
its trash. o yeah do it w/ the key on

I had to press the clutch and ride it a little and push the button at the same time.
