I have a project '83 CJ5 with the 258, T-5, and Dana 300.  I've made a few modifications to the vehicle, which has cause some difficulty with the rear driveshaft.  The drivshaft is short ("16) at a pretty steep angle.

I recently picked up an old International driveline; I'm not sure, but I think it used to be a scout (it had approx "100 wheelbase).  It's a (seized) straight six ("power thrift six")  with a cast iron three speed and a Dana 18.

Would the three speed bolt up to the CJ engine?  It's shorter and would give me a longer drive shaft.

would it be possible to put the T-5s shorter bellhousing and input shaft on the three speed to make it even shorter?

I'm on a bit of a budget, and I'm probably just grasping now, but I really need to do something with this to get it on the trail.
