Hello anyone with any info on this matter would be so helpfull. Ok my freind has a 79 toyota p/u w/ a 20R motor in it. Well the head gasket blew on it and he went to have the head done any way there was very sever problems w/head and the place he wen to didnt have one that would fit they said the 22R head would work well.......It does match up but is the 22R head really a same match as the 20R head is the Cam, valves,timeing all the vitals the sameWILL THE 22R HEAD BOLT UP AND WORK PLEASE ANY HELP THANKS YOU ALL!!!!!!

In answer to your question, yes, a 22r head will fit a 20r block, to some extent. Only the earlier models( up to about '83 or '85 ) will work. After that, the came had too much lift and you will run into problems with piston/ valve clearence. I did this to my '80 toy and it ran great(before the small block). Your friend will see an increase in low end and top end and a bit better fuel economy if he has near the success that I experience.

Hi there thanks for your help in the tech help i have anouther qestuion im speaking on behalfe of my freind, do you have a V-8 in yours now? if so what kind and whats all involved with the swop any tech help would be awsome i would love to see a pic of it if you have one, did you do it your self can you tell us the basics needs for the swop thanks toyet1 bye the way this is my toy its a bronco though i saved it from a junk yard lol BADBRONCO2
