I've got a 91 chevy blazer S-10. I've seen kits for putting a 350 in it and using the same trany. How well will the tranny hold up to a modified V8? Is this evean recamended?  S-10's shift into 4 wheel in the trans instead of the hub so what other trans could I use?

Dude I have no idea what you were trying to say about the tranny shifting in to 4 wheel.  But yes you have automatic locking hubs......   Anyway, I would go with a 700r4 if you want to deal with it if you want a easy swap (easy as it can be) a turbo350 backed up by a np205 x-fer case should bolt right up.  Im sure you can get the new mounts from www.advanceadapters.com they can answer any questions you have, just tell them what set-up youre going with.  New drive lines and youre good to go.  You may also have to do some hacking and welding on your fire wall to get the small block to fit....   Good Luck

If you have the 4.3L, the 350 will bolt right up to your existing transmission. If your trans is the 4L60 (i'm not sure when they started using them... for sure by '94- I have one) you will have to have a computer to control it. Unless you will be using a computer controlled engine, like a Vortec, I would take the advice on using the TH350 or 700R4. The 700R4 is a 4 speed, The TH350 is a three speed (1st gear ratio probably higher than the 700).

Also a word of caution- stay away from a 200R4 (older weaker version of the 700). Another option is a TH400 (a little heaftier than a TH350)

A good way to gain under hood space is to notch the radiator support and inset the radiator forward into it.
