Replaced distributor after it has been removed. Set TDC aligned #1 up with cap-getting check service light. Cannot find procedure or specifications on this year and model

Overall timing is set by the computer. My 1995 350 is set at 0 degrees TDC, you have to disconnect the brown wire with a black runner to disable the timing advance to set the base timing. It maybe on the firewall, or my disconnect was under the dash (passenger side near the computer behind the glove box) It might be the same for your 1998 454?
