First off! Let me explain..

I use my '77 Wagoneer, 360 V-8, GMC 400 AT,  and have used it for then past 14 yrs..in my full time Prospecting/Treasure Hunting!

A CJ just isn't big enough for my needs!

The rig has been terrific... in fact, we have had to pull some of those new, diesel powered 4x4s out.. Three different times!

My ONLY! Complaint,  is the MPG!

When I'm  lucky, I get 12 mpg !

Otherwise! it's 10 ! 

My Question:

Has anyone removed the Quadra Trac System ( FT 4WD) and replaced it with a

Regular, on demand,  lock in/out system ?

I have converted or put new t-cases in chevys to go from full time to part time. What tranny do you have? A dana 20 or 300 or any of those t-cases should bolt up(you may need an adapter or clocking ring), then you will need to buy some nice lockouts(preferably warn!) to put on the front axle.
