My question is that my 2003 Ford Ranger has a hard time going into 4 Low. It will go in 4 High just fine, but when you switch it in to 4 Low it takes a long time for it to go in or just won't go in at all. What can I do to fix it? Or do you think I could make it a manual shift instead of a switch on the fly. Please let me know what you think. Thanks

Do you know that you have to be at a complete stop before you shift into 4-low ? You probalbly know this already right ? I have had the same problem with my Ranger also. Once your at a complete stop, turn the knob into 4-low, wait a couple of seconds and if it doesn't go in put it in first gear and go forward about a foot or so. This should do the trick. It has always worked for me. If that doesn't work, your shift motor on the transfer case might be bad. As for making it a manual shift you can't do this with your current transfer case. I hope this will help you with your problem.
