Obviously an 84 body will fit... 73-87 are the years for that body style and anything from those years should fit with little or no modification.

if u want a 73 body on it the just go to gm and order one from them and they will get it yo you in less than a mouth and they are not more that 300 buck's so that is what I did with my 84 gmc high serria 1500 and it's still good to me

ok i know this from expeirience. i put an 85 cab on a 79 chassis. the cab was from an automatic and the standart trani hit the floor so i had to put a body lift in it. theres somthin to do w/ the rear mounts so i had to put 4 inches of block in the back bounts and only 3 or so in the front. on the 80 or 81 + cabs there is a cover piece where the wincheild wipers run through and the hood meet up on that the older models dont have. 80 or 81+ fenders or frontgrill and radiator suport dont line up w/ the older stuff. if you have any more questions i can most likely answer them. i got a sn on aim chevytruckkid79 or snglelonelynhurt if want to ask me on there. good luck

IF YOUR UPDATING TO 80s STYLE FENDERS YOU NEED TO DO IT RIGHT AND UPDATE EVERYTHING FROM CAB FORWARD...I WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE A BUDDY THAT SOLD ME A 91 SUB FRT CLIP FOR $50 BUCKS AND GRAFTED IT ON MY 74 C10,BUT YOULL PROBABLY SPEND MORE...YOU NEED, GRILLE,CORE SUPPORT,HOOD, FOUR HOOD HINGES(2 PER SIDE), WIPER COWLING,AND INNER FENDERS...IF YOU WANT YOU CAN KEEP THE FRT BUMPER AS THIS WILL FIT BUT THE NEWER NOSE IS SLIGHTLY POINTED AND OLD WAS MORE BRICK LIKE.

YOULL ALSO NEED TO UPDATE TO NEWER RADIATOR MOUNTING AS THEY ARE DIFFERENT TOO.THE FLOORS OF THE CABS I BELIEVE ARE SLIGHTLY DIFF TOO FOR MANNY TRANNYS AND AUTOS AND YOU CAN PROBABLY GET DIFF CTR FLOOR TO DO IT...AND LIKE I SAID EVERYTHING WILL BOLT RIGHT UP JUST HAVE TO MODIFY THE WIPER COWLING CAUSE THE OLDER STYLE WAS LOWER CAUSE HOOD COVERED IT UP, THE NEWER ONES HAD A TALLER WIPER ASM SO YOU NEED TO FIND NEWER WIPER ASM.

ONE MORE THING I REMEMBERED...I ALSO GOT A DRIVERS DOOR CAUSE MY 74's DOOR WAS VERY CANCEROUS AND THE 91 DOOR FIT JUST FINE TOO BUT THE INSIDE PART OF THE DOOR WHERE THE DOOR PANELS FIT ARE DIFFERENT TOO. I THINK THERES 3 DIFF DOOR PANELS AND SAME FOR THE INSIDE OF DOOR,SO WHATEVER DOOR YOU GET,IF YOU GET, GOTTA MAKE SURE WHAT YR RANGE IT IS SO THE PANELS WILL FIT CORRECTLY
AND SINCE YOUR DOING A NOSE LIFT ITS A REALLY GOOD IDEA TO CHANGE ALL THE BODY MOUNTS OVER TO ENERGY SUSPENSION SINCE EVERYTHING IS APART.

yes you could always go get an 84 cab or complete body... But if you are looking to just change out the cab and still use everything else, you can only go back to 81. So from 81-87 on the trucks. If you go earlier the cowl, hood, fenders are different due to the inset head lamp style front end. You can always go the Blazers or Suburbans and then go as new as 91 and be able to use the complete front ends and front doors. This is one of the best things about the chevys they are so interchangeable.

I am thinking of swapping a few things out (body wise) as well on my 85 K5. The entire front cab to bumper and middle to rear end skins, using a 93 doner. Sounds like a fun project, depending on how much all the parts cost...

ok if you want to change out your body the years that will bolt right on are 1981 to 1987 the 1980 back to 1973 you have to cut out the rear cab support and put the one in from those years. i have already done this put a 85 cab on a 79 frame.

lifting the chevy cab doesnt seem like a problem to me with all the right tools and hoist equipment (friends.) but id like to know, what exactly needs to be removed or disconnected in order to call the cab "ready to be lifted?"
still talking an 84 4x4
i drained the radiator, took all the hoses and lines off it, disconnected the light wires in the front, disconnected the hood latch, removed the battery box to get at some bolts. then u take off the hood, the doors and the fenders, leaving the fenders bolted to the core support and the inner fenders and attack the firewall...now steering arm needs to get disconnected, brake pedal cables need to come undone and if 4x4 the n take off the rubber around the transfer case shifter, disconnect the speedometer cable...idk whats left...am i missing anything as of yet?
thanks so much
