I just bought a 84 toy pickup with no motor or trans .It is all set up for a small block chevy with motor mounts ,but the man that had it before me never had it four wheel drive .He just had the back driveshaft hooked up .oh yea did i mention it is sitting on 44 super swampers. My question is ! I am looking to buy a 400 trans and case for 500$ that a freind has ,is there any way i can turn the transfer case down on the tail of the trans so the pinion angle for the driveshafts isn"t so great. I also forgot to say that the truck is a short wheel base
Thank you anything would be appreciated

what you need to do is balance the lift of the truck and the height of the body and the driveshafts angles. this is what I would do if you plan on running the 44's
First check to see if you have the stock axles, if so go easy on it, or you will have carnage. There are things to upgrade those axles, but they are not cheap, and even with 44 they are marginal.
Second can you keep the lift low, and trim the bed and front fenders? You may want to look into fiberglass front fenders and maybe even moving the the front axle forward a bit to get more room for the tires.
then you may need to also lower the engine mounts and that will help with the driveshaft angles. plus with such big tires, keeping the engine and tranny and t-case lower will help with the center of gravity.
I don't know who's truck this is, but here is a great example of a toyota 4runner with 44's.
Why not post a picture of your new truck for us to see.
