Do Hummer 8-lug rims with the 36" military tires fit on mid 80's GM 1-ton axles? I am pretty sure the bolt patterns are the same?

Yes the do, however.. due to the offset/backspacing they will only fit on DUALLY axles, though the dually would become a single rear wheel.  You can either modify them or use spacers to run them on regular 1ton axles, other wise they will tucked too far in.
