i have a 1979 cj 7 with 304, TH-400, and Quadra-Trac it has a four in lift with shackel reverse this summer i was planing on ditching the Quadra-Trac for a dana 300 and the stock axels for dana 44 axeles from an old grand cherokee i know both of these swaps have been done in the past but i cant find any sold info about the types of snags i might run in to i know i can get the t-case to bolt up to the TH-400 even if i have to go threw advanced adapters but
1.what about the cross member/skid plate will the exsisting one bolt up or what kind of mods will i have to do
now to the axels i am planning to go to spring over in the swap the bigggest thing im worried about with the axel swap is the steering.
2. can i get the grand cherokee tie rod to hook up to the cj pitman (it looks like it might bolt up but i have never had the vehicals side by side to really compare)
3. when going spring over dose the passanger side spring get in the way of the tie rod that goes from pitman to sterring arm
i would really apreciate any type of feed back on any of these three questions. just like everyone else im on a budget so any money saving tips for the t-case or axel swap are helpfull as well
thanks
kyle

i just want to address ? #3 about the spring getting in the way. it probably will. you'll want to go to a hi-steer setup. there is extensive info about the conversion on the web. if you can't find anything by searching, reply back and i'll give you the sites. i'd have to find them again myself though.
