you will get suck before your motor gets flooded. unless you hit it really hard

if this is a one time thing i wouldnt say you need to pug anything up other than your axles breathing hoses .. just make extentions

make a cheap PCV snorkel by the way keep it simple and if your going to do it do it right

how deep is the water hole?

ankle

knee

waist

chest

ear

or wrist (with hand above head)

also how tall are you and how tall is the jeep?

finally you will want to keep water out of the

axles, engine, transmission, transfercase,

you will also want to regrease everything afterwards, check and possibly change the lube in all of the above.

The best route is as the other guy said, make sure all seals are good, extend all breathers to above the water line, as well.  Make sure the snorkle seals very well to the intake, wear your swimming suit, protect the computer and the distributor as well as most of the other electrics if they are gonna be under water.  the alternator should be fine.  Also you may want to notice the fan as it can bend if it hits the water.  Plus often when it bends it will hit the radiator.

If it isn't deeper than your knees you can probably get by with an easy approach, but remember that if you hit it really hard it may spray water up into the snorkle and the other electronics and then you will be in trouble.  Water is often better approached slow and steady, than fast.

Also the folks at Tread lightly kinda frown on most 4x4 water adventures, but on you own land is a different story.

For a one ... two or three time deal i dont really think greasing your whole truck over again is 100% needed...

crap, there is a really really nice way to make a snorkel for a jeep i dont have a pic tho

just get a 1-1/2 or 2 inch pipe put about a foot long put it pointing the driver from your air box im not sure but i think i have seen it done under a friends jeep and it works real good. dont cut a hole in your hood you will be kicking yourself later.

just make it so the water wont splash the intake you will be fine

but 3 foot... thats gona get you stuck i think... well good luck do it with another tow jeep on dry land with some chain or rope

you dont need a snorkle for 3 feet of water just water proof your distributer and have some 33's or 35's and you'll be fine. what kind of rig do you have? I have a cj7 with 5.5 inches and 33's, and 3 ft of water is cake. I have put the tail lights under water and have been fine. Check out my website http://webpages.charter.net/pughs. none of these have caused problems. but all of these are before lockers. every other picture on the site it has lockers.
