I have a 94 4runner and I was considering doing an engine swap. It has the 3.0L Toyota in it now(the thing is gutless). I am running 37" tires with 5.29 gears, stock t-case, stock 5-speed, and still running the IFS unfortunatly. I want to try and stay with a V6 and not go into the V8s, what would some good V6s be? I was thinking of swaping over to the 3.4L toyota with a supercharger. Or I was thinking of going with a 4.3L chevy (possibly super charged and I have heard you can bore them out to a 5.3L... dont know though). I want an engine that has good torque and a bit of horse power. Any ideas on what I should use? and I would perfer if I didnt have to swap to a solid front axle yet, due to money reasons, but plan to. thanks K.

The newest issue of Off-Road (May 06) has an article on swapping a 3.4 in place of a 3.0.. pg 70, titled The Finishing Touch, waking up a first generation 4runner.
