whats the point? to get attention to look cool?  a better flowing exhaust would be one thing, but to be obnoxiously loud is another.. the loudest.. no mufflers.. but like i said whats the point, you cant hear the radio and you cant listen to your engine to determine how its running and if something is wrong..

headers, dual pipes and flowmaster or glasspacks seem to be the common loud truck combination.. if you want good flow and performance, go with magnaflows or hooker aero chambers..

What engine does your s10 have, you aren't get a whole lotta sound out of any of them (re: good sound). Headers and a muffler along with a high flow cat is all I would do. No mufflers on a 4/6cyl just sounds obnoxious.

Buy some cherry bombs or purple horneys.  They are only $20 or $30.

I had an 84 S-10 pickup with a V-6 and I removed my cat. and installed a straight pipe in its place and ran a 2.25" exhaust with a Flowtech Terminater muffler straight out the back below the rear bumper. This made the truck run awesome and gave it a sound like it had a V-8 in it. Since you have an 89 S-10 you may have an O2-sensor behind the cat. and won't be able to run a straight pipe in place of the cat. It is also illegal to remove the cat. but alot of people do it anyway. I also recommend trashing you old cat. and buy a high flow cat. Make sure you put the cat. back on before you go to take your truck back to take you emmisions test and when you clamp it up front before you take your test only tighten the clamp just enough to seal it so there is no leaks, That way when you come home to pull it off it comes off easy.

If you run a high flow cat. your truck will run just as good as if you didn't run no cat at all. I found this out by running my truck with the cat. on or off. You just won't get the V-8 sound with the cat. on.

thanks for the info. but i was also wondering what yall think of a DMH valve i saw an add for one, it says that you can mount it anywhere after the headers and at the flick of a switch you can bypass your muffler altogether.

you plan on racing it? or just to look cool?  a street rod/truck would be one thing, but it serves no purpose on an off road truck.

flowmaster 40 series ...dual exit...or straight pipe....glasspacks are cheaper and loud as hell also

depending on where you live you could go to advance auto parts and buy a 30 dollar glasspack aftermarket muffler and have it installed for cheap

also if you dont live in the city and dont have to pass smog....take the cat off or if you want just the loud exhaust...cut the muffler off....use a hacksaw or if you have a welder...

welder...to cut the exhaust off, you mean plasma, or torch. I dont think straight pipe would sound very good. You dont really need the flow of duals, so that would strictly be an apperence issue.

Unless you have a vehicle with a V-8 and headers it will sound like crap with a DMH valve!
