The only real thing I know of is to watch out for the Peugeot 5-Speed tranny. It has been known to be the weaker of the bunch. Also make sure that your hydrolic clutch line stays attached to the firewall and away from the engine. They don't like the heat. Besides that, take care of it and it will live forever.

I would look out for the dana 35c this is a weaker axle but it will do fine unless you really beat it. another thing is the cherokee like to run really HOT. they have a goofy cooling system that they got rid of in 91, they changed it back to an  open cooling system from a closed, the driver side floor pan likes to rust out as well other than that they are a nice jeep, i got a 90 with a 3" lift 31" swampers and a custom cooling system.

I currently have a 92 XJ With a 5 1/2 re lift & I  Had some problems with the week steering.  I had to reinforce the frame by the steering box.
