buddy of mine runs an 88 k1500 stepside with a 14 bolt rear, 456 gears and 35x12.5 tires. The truck has this beauty victory red paint job on it and no mufflers on the really worked up 350. The import tuners always wanna race for some reason. His truck has 350hp, easy, and with 4.56 gears its damn fast. Some kidd pulls up in a decked out civic at a red light, and gives us the old "zing zing" on his 100dB fart pipe. My buddy laughs and gave the kid a shot of good old unmuffled hot small block. We dust him to the next set of lights, "buy four more cylinders and tuner up for next time champ!"
guess you had to be there.

No mufflers and he hasn't been pulled over or ticketed? Is that legal? (If it ain't I won't tell) Did you mean he's got small mufflers (short-chambers) that don't cut out much of the sound?

His exhaust consist of shorty headers, a H-pipe (balace exhaust pressures side to side) and 2"1/2" dual pipes that exit straight out the back. No cats or mufflers, at all. Definately not legal. Sounds filthy loud, but sweet! Hasnt been ticketed, drives it daily, but he also lives in North Bay, where a noisy truck isnt anything new.

Look I'm not gonna give u a binch of crap, you got enough already, I think you've learned a lesson about Hondas, but you're probly stuck with what you got, so I'll try to help you out. First of all just becuase he said it was rebuilt dont make it so, especially when he's tryin to unload it. Find the cranking compression spec for your motor and get a compression checker, available at sears. Make sure the motor not only meets the minimum spec, but is no more than 5% off cyl to cyl. If it is, thenthe motors shot, if not go ahead with your tune up, along with a new fuel filter, pump and air filter, then you can let those 95 ponies run.

agree with the check compression and if good do the tune up being sure to check the timeing and may need to replace the o.2 sensor and check the map sensor for vacum lines being worn and cracked. But if your already use to no power move on up to a samuri or amigo or something with 4wheel drive. See what you are missing.
