Heavy Chevy,

Should be similar in strength to a 12 bolt Chevy or six lug 9.5" Semi float 14 bolt. Stronger than the Chevy 10 bolt (boat anchor) Should handle up 37" tires pretty well.

If you are looking to swap, I can personally recommend the 6 lug 9.5" 14 bolt (commonly refered to as heavy duty half ton or light duty 3/4 ton) OF course the 10.5" full float 14 bolt is a the ultimate beast if you can use 8 lug wheels. I have a 1995 K1500 that I swapped a 6 lug 9.5" 14 bolt out of a wrecked 2WD 3/4 ton. It bolted right up and kicks ass compared the the POS 10 bolt.

That 9.5 14blt SF came out of what year 2wd truck? I am considering the EXACT same swap in my 92 k1500, and dont want the hassle of moving spring perches.

Did the factory driveshaft bolt up with an adapter u-joint? or did you have to shorten the shaft due to the longer pinion section of the 14bltSF?

I got my 9.5" SF 14 bolt from a 92 or 93 "light duty" 2WD 3/4 ton. Any rearend from a 88-98 Chevy/GMC will bolt right in. Most 2WD trucks have 5 lugs but the 6 lug 14 bolt can be found in "light duty 2WD 3/4 tons" some K1500 that came with a towing package or "heavy duty 1/2 tons" and I think the 454SS had the 6 lug 14 bolt.

Mine bolted right in, I even kept the 3/4 ton springs to get a little more lift and better load carrying.  Yes, I used a "conversion" ujoint (1330-1350) and my stock driveshaft. You'll have to look through the autoparts store's ujoint crossrefence book to get the correct one. Mine weren't in stock, so I had to special order them, so I bought 2 extra when I had the chance.  I had good luck finding the conversion joint at Autozone, and Carquest or Napa I think. Advanced couldn't get them when I tried before.  The 9.5" 14 bolt's pinion is slightly longer than the 10 bolt, but I have a 6" lift so I haven't had any trouble with the extra inch or so.

I sold my old 10 bolt and front gears for more than what I paid for my 14 bolt, swapped in some 4.56's front and rear, and have been really happy.

Hello there a chrysler 9 1/4 has a 9 1/4 ring gear a dana 60 has a 9 3/4 ring gear there close in strength just not full floating. also you can only get 4.56 ring and pinion. the 60 takes more horsepower to get moving compared to the chrysler. i personally like the chrysler it holds up pretty well i wouldn't go past a 38 inch tire and thats stretching it. i personally have two of these rearends? i am going to 60's only cause i'm running 49 inch tires and need mor ethan a 4.56 ring gear.
