I have a 91 F-150 with that stupid TTB front end lifted 6 inches and Im sick of it. It won't stay aligned and it rides like *** I wont a Dana 60 buts thats going to be too expensive for right now so Ive decided to use a 44 and just try to not mash the gas as hard( really thats how it should be with gas prices 2 bucks a gallon). I've looked at a few of these swaps and I'm pretty sure I can handle the work. I just need to know a few things. 1) what year model of the solid axle F-150's had the reverse cut D44? I have 4.10 gears and from what i understand the gears will swap from my TTB case to a solid axle as long as its reverse cut. Is this true? 2) the other swaps I saw replaced the factory TTB spring towers with the ones off the 70's model truck and used the 70's model springs. Is that necessary or will the springs from the TTB fit on the solid axle? 3) Where can I get a drag link? I know the steering box on the old Fords is on the outside but the new ones have it on the inside of the frame and the other people had to either get or make new drag links. Is there a place I can get a drag link for this swap or where can I get the ends to weld on if I make one?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

1) 75-79 yes they will swap as long as you have a reverse rotation dana 44 housing
2) i would use springs desgined for the 70 model fords solid axle and use the top buckets of the ttb. the only problem is if lifts less than 8 inches will require modifying and gusseting of the motor support bracket of the frame but fabritech does sell an 8 inch lift swap kit for ttb dana 44 to straight axle dana 44\
3) there is no place to my knowledge you can get one premade for this application but you can or any fabrication shop can make you a drag link and if you want to use spherical rod ends or ball joint type tie rod ends either are readily available from parts wholesalers

if you use the 70's brackets you must have springs that are approx. 2" longer, it will allow more flex without binding the springs, the only problem is whether or not you can figure a way to get the ammount of lift you need to clear the front engine mount cross member.
when you get it figured out I would appreciate it if you let me know what you would do different and why, so I can perform the same swap on my 84 strait six bronco. I have the high pinion 44 front axel from a 76 150, but am terrified I will mess something up!
check out Soderblom's swap at: http://soderblom.net/bronco/
that might help
