I am a 17 yrd old and i love to go play in the mudd. Comin up here in december im going to get some money from a car wreck and im wondering what kind of truck would be the best for a all around off roading/ mudd truck. I plan on buying something for daily driving and then another truck just for offroading. If anyone could give me some adivice on what kind of truck would be the best for mudding/ tackling the trail i would really appreciate it. I plan on spending like 5-6 on this truck but funds are prettty limitless i just dont wanna spend more then that. Thanks Sam.

the first decision i would make would be to narrow it down to a year bracket it is very possible and pretty easy to find a reliable rig in that price bracket though i was very short on cash when i bought my truck a 79 ford bronco but i was able to find it and i only spent $600 so for the kind of money you are looking to spend you could find a truck and build it to your liking

Thanks, I really am not particular to any type of truck anything will do. I am really just trying to find out what is the best stock with the easiest installs and most readilly available parts. Preferably something that i can have some power in.

Befor you buy a truck. You might want to check out the junk yards in your neck of the woods. That will give an ideal about the parts you have to work with. Next you need to deside what kind of toy you want to make and what your going to use it for. As far as power goes. PONYS IS ALL A ? OF *** For the truck I like long bed. Chevy's around '72 to'87. There cheep, eazy to find parts for, and a lot of fun in the mud and snow. Plus they can haul everything in the house. The short beds are in higher demand so they cost more around here. But there's nothing wrong with a ford or a dodge. They all can make some BAD-ASS mud trucks. You'll have to find out what works. The most inportan part about it is. HAVE FUN !!!!!!

I too was in your same situation several years ago. I first had a '71 chev long box. it was fun. it had power, but was not as much fun as I wanted to have from a truck. Then I bought a '94 toyota short box reg cab. It was a four cylinder, it did not have a lot of power. But it was the funnest truck I've ever ridden or driven in. I think it was because it fit on almost any trail imaginable,or could make its own with minimal body damage. it was light, so it didn't sink in the mud or snow and would go almost anywhere it was able to spin the tires. I made the mistake of wanting more power and speed, bought a full size chev s-box reg cab. sure it has a lot power, sounds tough, but I wish I never would have sold my Toy. gutless or not, it could do it all. (but if you don't care about body damage, gas mileage or breaking a lot of parts due to heavy-left-foot-syndrome in thick mud, then go fullsize.) the shorter the wheel base, the better the traction in the mud and snow. '73 -'87 chev's are probably your best bet for full size, there are more aftermarket and junkyard parts out there than you could ever need. They are as reliable as a timex, and are probably the most bang for your buck.
