I'm new to offroading, dont have a lot of money and bought a 91 S-10 blazer. What can I do to it to make it a good Off road treker? Is shifting into 4 wheel in the trans better then locking hubs? I'm planning on getting a 3in body lift and 33in tires.

probably the best info you can get about your trucks capabilities off-road can be found in the owners manual it will tell you what you want to be in for differing situations

It tells me stuff like how to aproch a hill and ford streams but it wont tell me stuff like if doing a suspension lift is betten then a body lift. What kind of tires are best for mud as aposed to rock. (We've got lots of mud in MI) What can I do to increase horse power and not efect milage?

hi, I've got a 99 4x2 blazer and I was thinking about building up a 90 S-10 blazer so I kinda know what you are looking for. First off you'll prb want a suspension lift. Just to let you know that anything over 4 inches will make it look really really weird unless you cut body panels. Different brands (and types) of tires preform differently in the mud and what kind of mud. Some get good reviews like the goodyear mt/r and some get bad reviews like bf's ta/ko. I would go with either the goodyear mt/r since you're looking at mud. Everyone has thier own preference to how they want their hubs to lock. Some of us like myself are lazy and when i go offroad i want to go straight from the street into the mud so autolocking or translocking hubs were cool with me. Others want to know that the hubs are locked so manual locking hubs are thier choice. If you dont want to put all your faith into the trans when you're about to hit some serious mud then get manual locking hubs. 4wheelwholesalers.com has a some good lifts for the late 80s and early90s blazers along with suspensionconnection.com. Hope i was some help, happy wheelin'

first of all a suspension lift is alot better than a body lift, body lifts take the body and lift it off the frame(which SUX)and a suspension lift gives you bigger suspension components such as leafs or coils, depending on your application, the only good thing about body lifts is that they are very cheap in comparison with a suspension

Wow, thanks for the info. Where would I go for a suspention lift for this thing? All the kits I've seen are for the full size blazers. I'm having trouble finding stuff for my truck. I have however found body lift kits for as low as $65.
