I have a '98 Ram 2500 4x4 which i plan on putting 4.10 gears and lockers on in the future. But im a little confused on my rear axle on the factory part description under my hood it says it is a Spicer#6200. Ive looked all over to find info on that with no luck. And the dealership says its just a Dana 60. I would just like to make sure what it is before i start ordering parts and then find out it wont work. If it is this Spicer axle, can i get a place to go to that can help me with finding the right parts for it. Thanks.

The front axle I beleive is the 60. The rear axle on your truck should either be a dana 70 or 80. Not sure what year is what. My 98 3500 has the dana 80. Is yours a gas burner or Diesel? Try http://www.dieselram.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi . You should be able to get an answer there.

thats what i though too, but Ive only seen dana 70s and 80s on the diesel trucks and my truck has the 360 gas V8 so thats why i think it may be different.

take the vin number to your local dealer and they can tell everything you want to know about that truck. And on the tube comming out of the diff. on either sit will have numbers stamped into them. it will be on the side of the tube closest to the pinion. get some brake cleen and a wire brush clean it and you'll find it. Then you can look those numbers up on the internet, and get all sorts information on that axle.

Could be a 60 or a 70, best way to check would be to take the vin in, or check the axle tag

yea i tried to check the diff but the truck spent most of its days in Upstate New York and the road salt just ate the cover up like nothing. I did take the vin in and they said it was a 60. Just wasent so sure cus the dealership said it was a 60 and the tag under the hood said it was that Spicer model. but ill go with Dana 60 and see what i get thanks guys

Does the tag under the hood say its a spicer rear axle or does it say spicer driveline?
The axle is more than likely a dana 60 with spicer yokes and ujoints

I did some looking around and found that Spicer is a division of Dana Corp. Spicer is usally associated with yokes, driveshafts, u-joints and the like but apparently, Dana/Spicer have been making Dodge axles under the Spicer name sence the muscle car era.

You guys are correct. Dana/Spicer is the same deal, just differant divisions.
