I would like to build up an older dodge, just wondering how hard they are to do compared to ford or chevy, as far as parts avalibility. Just wondering what the best front diff to use is? I've read alot that the dana 44 is, What vehicles are they in to raid them out of. Any opinions are welcome. I would like to put 33 on a reqular cab long box dodge and build a 360 to about 300-350 horse power. And put front and rear lockers on it, with a manual tranny. How hard would this be to do? From what I know it shouldn't be to bad of a project to pick away at. Has anybody done a dodge up before like this, any info is welcome.
Thank you.

This is simple. the parts are everywhere, however, they come with a pretty stiff pricetag to go along with them. As for the diff's, dana 44's are strong, but dana 60's are better. If I were in your shoes I think I would shoot for the dana 60 rear with a dana 44 front. Because the dana 60 front is too damn hard to find let alone afford. You shouldn't have any trouble putting the numbers up with the 360, however, a 440 can be built for roughly the same amount and the torque of these monsters is well worth the time. Fuel mileage with the 360 and 440 is actually pretty close if you keep your foot out of the secondaries of the 440. You could expect roughly 15-17 easy miles per gallon and 8-10 if they are run hard.
Keep safe and keep it wheelin

Was there any vehicles that came with the dana 44 front, or is that strictly after market. How about the dana 60. What vehicles do you reccomend robbing a 440 from. Thank you

Dana 44's have come in all the big three trucks (as well as other applications) in various shapes and forms over the last 30 years.
Your 4x4 Dodge club cab could very well have one!

Any old Big boat of a dodge car from the late 60's to late 70s. Or Powerwagons had the 440 option. I don't believe the theory that late 440's were weaker than older 440's. Remeber that you will also have to change the tranny.
