the whole point of a reindexed torsion key is to raise it without crancking the torsion bolts.  they should be quite a bit bigger than your stock ones and make up for that difference.

Dont know what the original question was, but always watch ur cv angles when installing new keys or t-bars. If you do keys then crank them, it may put them out of operational range.

The original question was about  leveling out the front end of a 98 Ford Ranger 4X4 either by cranking up the torsion bars or buying reindexed torsion keys. What would be the best thing to do?

The only purpose of using keys, is to gain more lift if your stock adjsuter bolts are bottoming out before you get the amount of lift you want.

Keys just let you crank more. I don't like the idea of keys, as it allows you to crank further than you probably should.

Take heed in the afore mentioned adive about operating angles. You will also lose some suspension down travel.

I kinda don't want to use reindexed torsion keys or crank the torsion bars, because of  less down travel of the suspension and a harsher ride. This truck is a rough rider as it is. The shocks on it are Monroe Gas- Matics and might be a little worn out as they have about 53,000 miles on them. What brand of off road shocks would you recommend for this vehicle. ( 98 Ranger 4X4). I thought of using Rancho 9000's or RSX's.

I have a '98 chev. I put Rancho 9000 shocks on it. The shocks are great. The 9 adjustment points are super. I use settings 1 and 9. I have never used 2-8. Save some money. Don,t get 9000s, you won't use 'em.
