Good point, it's not what you buy, it's what you build!

When you are young and poor you have to beat those stock trucks until you decide what upgrades to do.  Come on, almost everybody started in a stocker!

Sure you gotta build a truck but you need a good base to work with.   I haven't seen anybody yet who says, "I think I'll go out to the garage and cast a new block for my 4x4."  Maybe you know somebody I don't?

Oh, on this topic, Ram's suck!

Hey guess what in case you haven't noticed nobody agrees with you. However they do agree with me. You wanna know somthing at first I felt a little sorry about making fun of you. I thought maybe you were misinformed. But now I know the truth you really are stupid. Even after I gave you the stats you still TRY to prove me wrong by changing the subject to 0-60 and 60-0.(Still talking about nissan) Like the one dude said who gives a #### about aceleration. If you want that get a FORD F-150 Lighting. Anyone with a brain that knows what a lightnig is will back me up on that. (no offense to the people that don't have brains like you.)Though I will admit the Lighting finally has some competition, and it is by dodge . It is a ram1500 with a viper engine it's one of the SRT series. Anyway back to the main subject, your stupid.

Listen I am tired of fighting with you. So I am going to make a new forum just for you "For guidolyons to talk "(sh#^)"  And if you write anything more I am Just going to ignore it. Unless you say somthing too stupid which you are known for doing.

P.S. this forum is about how much dodge sucks not about nissan.

Also this is to everyone except guidolyons if you have any info on The new SRT ram please post it. I want to know how it stacks up to the Lightning.

Shane,

What facts have you presented? Yes, a F-150 can tow more than a Dodge 1500.  What else? NOTHING!

I'll take a Chevy or Dodge over a POS F150 anyday.

A CHEVROLET 1500 Silverado can tow 10,200 lbs.  (That's more than the F-150 in case you have trouble with simple math) According to your best truck theory based on towing capacity alone, the Chevy is a better truck.

The reason I brought up 1/4 mile and 0-60 times are that they are an industry standard to measure performance. Look at any respectable magazine comparison such as the 4X4 of the year or a head to head shootout and they will ALWAYS use numbers and factual data including 1/4 mile and 0-60 times to back it up.

This is off topic since they aren't 4X4s....but since you asked...

Quarter Mile:12.9 sec @ 107 mph

The Ford does very well with 120 less hp, not bad!

Ford SVT Lighting 380hp at flywheel 303hp rear wheel 350lb/ft TQ

147mph top speed.  Congratulations, recently the Ford SVT Lightning did win the Guinness world record for fastest stock pickup truck @147 mph. That is, until the Dodge SRT breaks it!

I'll take the Gale Banks Dodge diesel that posted a world record of 222 mph at Bonneville

I am done with you.  Later loser.

wow that whole rant was a little off the topic of the hemi but ok.  As for the Ram version of the Lightning doesnt that run a viper engine not a hemi?  Of course all "respectful" auto mags run 0-60 adn 1/4 mile stats, becuase thats what they've been doing for ever.  They dont give us the stats that WE (the offroading community) really are concerned with like how it does crawling up some rocks, running through the sand or boggin through some mud.  From what I have seen, the new dodge hemi ram doesnt really do any of these very well as one of my wheelin buddies got one about 5 months ago and on many occasions he hasnt been able to get out of much that we get into.  NO the truck isnt stock he's got a 4 inch lift i believe and other dodads, and no we dont try to put it through 6 feet of mud.  Its just some sand dunes and little mud, and he runs 35 inch BGF MTs.  which on topic with another post run pretty good on the right vehicle.  But of course you'd take a Chevy over a ford anyday but thats a debate for another topic.  Why do we always gotta hate on eachother too.  Dont we get enough hate on by the tree huggers and the street truck guys not to mention the super import guys.  US wheelers gotta stick together.  AS for the hemi, i could care less if it ran a 2.3 0-60 and a 8 sec 1/4 mile, it isnt really a suitable offroading engine, in my opinion (and you might not think my opinion matters but thats the glorry of america isnt it)

The reason you should give a #### about the hemi engine is because, that design is one of the most powerful engine designs ever made for a v8. The term HEMI references the hemispherical
combustion chambers in the engine's heads. The chamber design puts the intake/exhaust valves in-line, rather than side-by-side. This allows for better flow of air through the head. The spark plug in the center of the chamber creates a better ignition of the fuel/air. Both of these major aspects help make hemi-type engines produce more efficiency and power. Thus making a tremdously strong and flexible powerplant. In today's world of top fuel racing the Hemi design is the most dominant engine by far! Look at any top fueler's engine when their in the pits or warming up their tires and you will invaritibly see two Hemi heads on each side of their engine. Not to mention they were banned from nascar in the late 60's early 70's for being too FAST!!!!As far as torque goes, the Hemi's design makes those engines very easy to covert to low end torque monster's!!! Depending on camshaft setup and your overall bore and stroke. Your statement should read who gives a #### about Dodge trucks, Because they obviously cannot produce a very reliable truck. Their towing package is evidently not up to snuff when it compares to Ford or Chevy, but remember that towing has a whole lot of variables involved besides just a strong torquey engine! The set up on your rig has to be complete from the engine to the gears, suspension, all the way to the wheel bearings!!! I am not a particular fan of any brand, and I think that every brand has had some wonderful designs when it comes to towing. But if you are a serious hotrodder/mudder than you have to have enough sense to give kudos when their due. No matter who made the engine the Hemi is a legend. P.S. I put a pic of some kind of dodge truck on here just to drive you wild. Don't let people bait you into lowering yourself in senseless cursing matches. If you have an arguement than bring the facts, they will stand on their own and you will look so much smarter for it.

While Mopar is not the only company to have
used a hemi-type engine, they have been the
most successful at mass-producing them for
the general public Coming soon to your driveway...505HP tow truck to pull the SRT-4 to the track!"

wow that text is really small.
i give the engine kudos as its a mastpiece of an engine.  THe thing everyone is getting into it about is the dodge line of trucks that the hemi is in.  If youre looking to take the truck to the track than thats the engine you want.  If you want to take out some of those kids in civics than thats probably the engine you'd like.  But like it says in another forum, the big three just arent offering the offroad community a "good" configuration, leaving out optional rear lockers and other dodads that could make the expensive ifs trucks of 2003&2004 a formittable foe of the VW that won the 4x4 of the year.  We (americans) are always about the horsepower and how fast it can go, that is one reason why we're not seeing the options that we'd like on a new hemi ram.

Regular ok are you guys done with this? your running around in circles and not getting anywhere.and thats the reason the regulars aren’t arguing this topic.

i could really care less who makes the fastest trucks if i wanted speed i get a car. but since this isn’t the case ill take a gearbound offroader anyday.

and really you cant say one truck manufacture is the god of the industry. ALL TRUCKS have good and bad i dont care what you say or who says it.

there are more things than whats on paper. numbers have little meaning. wile a company says a truck has 400hp it may only get 320 at the wheels. and how much did you pay for that?

If your looking at stock trucks then go to another web page if you want a chrome truck with tinted windows a sound-system and big wheels… just go die in a fire.

This is one of the very few magazines made just for the true wheeler. Keep it that way

Well I haven't been on the message boards in a long tmie but I got bored of vice city. Anyway I don't recall ever saying that the F-150 was the best truck to have. But now that you mention it, it is. Any way if anyone remembers the last thing I wrote it was I wasn't going to fight anymore. But now I come back  to the message boards and every one is fighting with me. I don't know if you guys haven't gotten any in a while or what. but if you don't care about stock performance than don't pay any attention to it. And I ve said it twenty times I didn't mean to dis the hemi just dodge and how stupid they are. If they want to they could make thet ram to way more but they don't. Even the durango tows more. I also never said who could tow the most or the most torque is the best truck I did say that the more torque the better for that indivdual truck. The main reason I brought up towing is because the f-150 tows so easily. It has 80% of its peak torque at a thousand RPM's it almost idles at that speed. If in this mesage i forgot to prove any point wrong just tell me and i'll write another message.

Some of you are CRAZY!

Talking about how more trucks arn't better equiped for offroad?

Thats the whole reasone I bought my 04' Ram 2500 Hemi 4x4, it has straight axles and its not a Ford POS. I am a Chevy man, but I hate IFS and I can't imagine offroading with it. My truck can safely run 40" MT/Rs because the strength of my axles, IFS trucks can't handle a 33" tire w/ serious offroad use. Plus I just ordered front and rear ARB air lockers.

I got a Hemi over (the best made) Cummins because it was cheaper and alot lighter, which helps a ton offroad.

Ford is what counts. My dad's old F-250 Super Duty could tow more than any Dodge 2500 right off the lot. And off-road that thing was amazing. I always had to tow out some Dodge or Chevy almost every day.
