they use to raise the front up a little higher to put weight on the rear end for better traction. when i take the camaro to the track i put smaller mickey ET's. on the back for traction and a little lower gear ratio. Ask your dad if thats why they did it . I beleave i read it some where would like to know if it is true or not or if it was just the way they did it?

They used to raise the height of cars? That sounds so cool!

I've thought it be nice to have one of those "old" Caprices from the 1980's with maybe 2-3" lift with regular sized tires and rims. (they're ground clearance sucks for driving off pavement, like in my friends backyard)

One of the main reasons I feel I need to buy a pickup instead of a nice fullsize car is that they are too low. Even more irritating to me is the trend to lower cars and trucks.

Does anyone still make those kinds of air-shocks for cars or trucks made after 1980? I'd definetly be interested!

Go to www.jcwhitney.com and enter what kind of car you have. In the magazine that I have they sell Gabriel Hi-Jacker Air Shocks for '63 to '04 cars, station wagons, trucks, vans, and RV's.

I couldn't find Hi-Jacker Air Shocks, but I did see other Gabriel air shocks. The only ones I've seen for pickups are probably meant only for the rear.

I wish there were ones to raise a pickup's front end with shocks. It'd probably ride smoother than a cheap mild lift kit.

no they get stiffer the more air you use.

You can't get air shocks for the front of a vehicle, just the rear. The more air you put in, the harsher the ride will be.

Hi-Jackers is a name that Gabrial uses for the shocks that they sell.

Sorry! I been out of the loop again!

All work and no play makes this corn-fed hick a dull boy!!

I heard about the load of ferd folks round these parts now. There goes the neighborhood!  As far as the bowtie reputation is concerned, it speaks for itself. It's whispering as far as the new stuff out there, but the old Chevy trucks are still going strong! Lets wait & see how these newer trucks are doing 30 years from now. They will probably have been recycled into coil springs for some new rice burner hybrid out of China or Korea somewhere!

Ya gotta have fun with the ferd folks! they're all a might confused!! They think it's normal for  'Driver Returns On Foot!!

I feel the same way about the 'dubs' brother! My kid wanted me to go to the 'Dubs' show in Miami with him recently. I politely declined. - I'd just as soon go to Sears, and wait in the one-chair waiting room, holdin my wife's purse, while she tries on 20 pairs of bras !!

I'ts just not me!!

...and I don't see how having less rubber and a lot more rim with huge air-pace can be any good going off-road or rock crawlin!! It's great if you want to show off your high=end calipers and slotted rotors, but tht'a all show and no go in my book!  It's much like riding an old 10-speed bike with 26-inch spoked rims on a mountain trail instead of buying a real mountain bike. The right tool for the right job.

I had a friend with an 80's Cadillac. He had air shocks in the back and used them whenever he towed his boat. ( poor man's pickem-up tuck, or the reverse of a Texas Cadillac ) He wanted a street car, and be able to tow his boat. If he hitched up his boat without filling the air shocks at the local gas station, all he could see is the sky. The back of the car would be pretty much on the ground.

Ya, it was funny! He forgot to fill the air shocks one day we were hitching up a buddy's boat and the back bumper went to the ground. Looked like half of a Mexican low-rider. A quick run to the local gas station air pump did the trick. It's still weird to tow with a car in my opinion.

I myself haven't been on the computer as much as I normally would be. Been pretty busy at work and doing other things such as fishing, partying, and doing some wheeling with my almost bolony skinned tires.

I will soon have to spend some money on some new meats for the Ferd Ranger.

I did manage to climb a pretty steep hill with the Ferd. I first tryed it in 4wd high in first gear, but I didn't get far. I then turned the cheap plastic knob to 4wd low and put it in second gear and climbed up it with no problem with about an 1/8" tread left on the tires. Not toooo bad for a pos Ferd.

That's pretty funny, I would scrub a dirty public restroom from top to bottom with a worn out toothbrush before I would go to " Dubs" show!!

Have you heard about the new message boards that they are getting ready to start on this forum? They said we will all have to have new screen names. Unless we can use our old screen names, nobody's going to know who's who! I think this sucks!!!!!

I like the message board as it is! Why screw up a good thing!

But then again you have to look at the big picture. Look at all the other stupid stuff that is going on in this crazy world that we live in.

Duh, how stupid of me. Raise the front of the car up for more traction in the rear. Makes sense to me. Wouldn't look too good, but I guess this would be the trade off.

I'm supossed to go fishing with my Dad this Friday. I'll ask him about this and will let you know what he says.

Ya, I guess they're going to make it like most of those other pansy forums with all the stupid happy faces and woo-woo's. There's so much BS on most of those that ya have to dig deep to get any useful info. Mostly huge pics of people's rides and smart-ass sayings that become so stupid after they come up on every response day after day after day....

We'll have to come up with some stupid gang sign so we can recognize who's who in the new forum.

Hey!! I'd brush my teefs with that nasy toof-brush before I'd be seen at a Dubs show dawg!

Ya, that's a constant these days - If something's right and makes sense then some pinhead, or a Politician will "fix" it!
