Towing with a 80's caddy, correct me if i'm wrong but that wold make it a front wheel drive. I can't think of anything crazier than towing with front driver. You get that toung just a little to heavy and your up crap creek without a paddle.

Cadillac made at least one rear-drive car in the 80's. Even after they switched to fuel injection. It might have been a Coupe Deville. (I don't remember the specific model name)
But anyways, this was similar to an 80's Caprice body style only 6-10 inches longer, mostly from fancy bumpers I think. (or approx. the same size or bigger than a similar era Lincoln Town Car) After carburation, I believe it only came in diesel V8 form. (but I'm not sure)

It weren't my idea as I mentioned before. I thought it was stupid myself.
...but then you see people out there towing with anything, and everything when you live near the water. I came up on another big car one morning at the boat ramp. I couldn't tell what it was cause of the oil slick floating just above it. Either a full sized Chevy like a caprice, or another Cadillac. The car had about 2 feet of water above it and the trailer was hitched behind it. - You could just make out the trailer in the murky water.
When we got back that afternoon I heard the guy had the car & trailer winched out by a wrecker, had it parked in the lot, got in his boat and went fishing. I guess he wasn't about to let a little thing like that ruin his day fishin! Man's got to have his priorities !!

I know what you mean about some of the web-sites that we go into to get info.
I am a member of Ferd Truck Enthusiasts ( but not a ferd lover though). I'm just a member just to get info. on fixing my piece of poo poo Ferd Ranger.
The web-site is very slow to pull up any info. that I might need.
The best Ferd Ranger only web-site that I go into to get some very useful and accurate information from is www.TheRangerStation.com Who ever runs this website knows there s###!! Anytime that I tap into this forum everything comes up very quickly.

I'm back in Black!! ...or a new shade of red. ( Victory Red ) on my old Beast. It takes some getting used to at first, but not as orange as The Red on Dodge Ram trucks. After about 4 trips to the P&B shop they finally got it right. I'm hopin not to have to deal with P&B shop dudes for a long time to come. ....Almost like gettin dental work after brushin my teefs with that funky toof-brush I got from you!!
How ya been ? I've been working like a dawg lately!! It's the season for it I suppose. Everybody decided to schedule their big jobs for the same time!!

Slower than molasses in January. I've had one day of work in July so far, but at least it's not cold anymore. I'm loving the nice summer weather. I still hope to visit my friend in North Carolina and go to Cedar Point.
How's everyone else been?

I've been doing pretty good. I have been working my nuts off and sweating like a pig too.
It's been pretty humid in the state of Maryland, but I would prefer to sweat like a pig than freeze my butt off!!
I'm still driving the Ferd Ranger. I found out that my coil pack produces a very weak spark and should be replaced with a new one. I still haven't replaced it yet though. After doing a couple of things to it, I got off of the 93 octane and I am now running the 89 juice. It doesn't ping nowhere near as bad as it did before, probalbly from running a 160 degree thermostat.
When the weather turns cool, I will put the regular 195 degree thermostat back in and then I will buy the new coil pack along with some new plug wires and maybe some new plugs. The plugs that are in it now are only about a year old.
I hope this cures the ( Ferd Pinging Blues ) .
The battery finally gave up at the end of June after 8 1/2 years and it was a Motorcraft battery. So far this was the only good thing about the truck. I never had a battery that lasted this long!!!!

Nice country up there around Cedar key. A whole lot of folks moving up that way though. TV commercials cloggin the air about land in NC and North Texas! No one can afford to retire in Florida anymore! - except maybe members of Congress, or friends of GB. Everyone's moving up north - North and South Carolina anyways, some to Georgia too, but It's no picnic in GA either these days. I got some friends up near the Blue Ridge there. Weather's hot as hades here lately. Perfect weather for hurricanes. I heard there's one spinning out there this week. That's one constant about Florida living - 'there's always one 'a comin!'

I've had both! frozed my nads off in Connecticut, and sweat like hog in Florida. Maybe I should have stopped half-way down, I suppose.
Yep, sounds like a Ferd. a whole lot 'o maintenance so it don't get 'found on the road dead' - hopefully not with the driver. You might just want to pull the plugs and clean them & make sure the gap is still right if they're less than a year old. I went with the Moroso 8mm Blue Max under-header wires myself, but I don't know if I would spend that for a Ferd though.
I don't think they've come up with a cure for the 'Ferd Blues'. They'll probably cure cancer and the common cold before that moon rises, I suppose.
I think I hear the fur 'a flyin, and the feathers 'a rufflin already out there in Ferd Country!! I guess I'll be getting mail over this sort of talk again! Come on fordf250man, I know ya got yer ears on out there! How 'bout ya ?

I pulled the plugs out around April. The looked fine, but they look like there firing just a little on the hot side and I also regapped those critters.
Other than the piece of crap plug wires that I have on it now, I always used the Autolite plug wires and they always worked great. The reason why I didn't buy these in the first place, is because they didn't have the part # for my truck.
Another great plug wire to me is made by (Taylor). I used to have these wires on my '65 Chevy II and they lasted for many, many years.
I would never waste that much money on a Ferd though!! They don't deserve to be on a Ferd.

Are you thinking about becoming a "halfback" redbeast? Too expensive or is the heat getting to you? (just kidding)
Today a cold front past and the dewpoint went from 78 F to 60 F. After the past few days a dewpoint at 60 F feels arid. (lol)
I like the idea of sweating like a pig to freezin, but for me there is almost no climate that's in between. Example; even through thick gloves, 25 F can hurt my fingers and he hottest weather I've been in, heat index 110 F, I had no issues breathing, was a little thirsty and had no sweatspots larger than a quarter.
What's this about Cedar Key?

Sorry, I meant Cedar Point. Must have had the Keys on the brain again. That's one part I miss about living in Miami, is being close to the Fla Keys. They are not the same Keys I grew up with though. Change is a bad thing in Fla.
LOL , I am thinking about becoming a half-back actually. It's getting too expensive to retire in Florida. It's not quite as bad as California yet -around the Napa Valley. Now that's brutal out there! It's just the snow I can't cope with since my days in Connecticut. I can't see becoming a hermit for half the year, after living in Florida and sweating outdoors on Christmas Eve!
