I can't believe Jerrod Jones picked a Ferd-'03 FX4 Ranger to be one of the best 4x4's on earth in the June of '06 issue of the mag. among of almost all of the other turd 4x4's. I can't believe he didn't pick at least one of the older K-5 Blazers or pick-ups to be in the top 4x4's on earth. I think something is wrong with this guys brain. He must drive a car for his daily activity's. Or maybe he's just trying to start some *** with the readers!
What do you think?

You know what they say about opinons - everybody's got one. The choice may have been driven to create controversy as you mentioned, or there may be other effects at work in the background. One may be so that Ferd can refer to this article in one of their sales rags. I hope this is not the case, but I'm not sure how the choice was made - One man's opinion, or a group's.
I don't put a whole lot of stock in recomendations made by groups like JD Power either. They've made some pretty questionable recommendations in the past. The only victims here will be the un-informed public who bases their vehicle purchases on questionable sources like these. The best source to base opinons in the automotive field are the mechanics who work on these models for a living. The consensus of their opinions is the true measure of the vehicle quality.
It's a big bad world out there dude, get used to it. There are a lot of things that happen in back rooms that drive decisions like these, where most people do dot agree with the result. - just my opinions, for what they are worth.

You never know, they might have something going on with Ferd with trying to get there sales up on the Ferd Ranger and the other models. I believe alot of "not so smart shoppers" base there new vehicle purchasing decisions on all of those bullcrap commercials that they show on TV.
How about the new commercial about the new Ferd Mustang where the driver is reving the engine and doing donuts. The funny part of it is that the car is on wet pavement. Dam, you could do donuts with an old piece of poop Chevy Chevette or any other low powered piece of crap car on wet pavement.
I'd hate to admit it, but I was a not a smart shopper when I bought my Ferd Ranger. I thought that I was doing the right thing by doing a little research on this vehicle as I had a subscription to Consumer Reports Mag. They had an article on three small pickup trucks including the S-10, Ranger and I think the Dakota. All of these were based on the '98 model year pickups. Well, the Ranger came out on top as being the best choice.
I myself have based other decisions on other products on what this mag. said, most have been good and very few were not like the "Ferd Ranger".
I do not use this mag. any more for any advice.
The best thing to do is buy a vehicle based on experience. Hint- "OLD CHEVY'S ONLY"
Oh, when I was in Ranger Power Sports web-site whey had a link for Chevy guys called "www. fullsizechevy.com" I myself have never checked it out but thought I'd let you know about it. You may already know about this web-site, but maybe not.

Oh, Brother where art thou ??
Sorry, I've been 'outa the loop' lately with a whole lotta work, and some lengthy computer problems, but I'm back in the saddle again - to keep quoting cliches here...
I agree with you about the recommendations made by corporations and their alliances to other corporations. I usually go by a product's track record, or a recommendation from someone I trust. A lot has been said about Nissan Titans recently as an example - we will just have to wait and see if this titan model is still going strong like these old Chevys 30 years from now, and have not been recycled into ash trays for some other newer Nissan models.
Likewise, there will always be the one odd 'Ferd' person who has never experienced any sort of problem with this line, but either they are the exception that proves the rule, or they are in denial - in my humble opinion.
My views on that product line are from personal experience, as you are aware. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt in every case, but when you investigate how things are engineered, the quality of the materilals used, and the proven track record, then those who belive otherwise have just not educated themselves on the subject - again, in my opinion.

Glad to have you back.
For awhile there, I thought you may have fallen off the face of the earth.
Let the "Ferd bashing" begin again!
I started to feel somewhat lonely on trying to defend the old Bowtie reputation.
There's some new Ferd people on this forum now. I'm been having a little fun with them!!

I sure don't love Ferds!
Sometimes I'd like to push mine off a very steep cliff and watch it crash to the bottom.

Since my Ranger has been paid off for a year now, I'm thinking of just keeping it although it aggrevates the crap out of me every now and then. The way gas prices are nowadays, I'm not too sure if I would want to own a full size 4x4 Chevy pickup or K-5 Blazer.
I've been thinking of trying to find myself another Chevy II Nova, but nothing later than a '72 model. Of course its got to have V-8, a 350 would be nice and either a 350 trans. or a 4-speed manual. The way I drive cars, the gas mileage won't be too much better than driving a full size 4x4. I just miss having a car that hauls ass!!!!
If or when I find another Nova, I'm going to set it up just the way they did back in the 60's and 70's. Put the old style Cragar SS's on it, air shocks on the back, traction bars, headers with some old school mufflers with exhaust that exits in front of the back tires. Normal size tires and wheels, like skinnier ones in the front and some fatty's in the rear with some deep dish wheels out back. ( not the low profile tires or the dubs that they use nowadays). I hate those low profile tires and the big wheels, just doesn't look right to me.
I don't want to buy a car that has already been restored, too much $$$!! Maybe just partly restored, like most of the body work has been done. I'm not to good with body work. Everything else I'd rather do myself. This is what I'd really like to do!!!!!!

They make the rear end sit higher than the front and use air lines that are connected to a single fitting much like a valve stem where you can add or let out air to adjust the ride height.
This is how most people ran their cars from the 60's and 70's. Pretty much " old school " stuff.
My Dad told me when he was growing up back in the 50's, that they used to raise the front end of the car up. To me this sounds kinda stupid, but that's how they did things back then. I guess its all about a trend.
