You know what they say: " He who hesitates is lost ".
I learnt that lesson spear fishing off-shore in the Keys in Florida. A Big @ss African Pompano came up to me nose to nose one day. I thought it was another Barracuda the way it came up to me. It was swimming directly at me, and when it turned broadside to me I could not believe how big it was! Af. Pompano's are mostly flat when viewed from the front, or back. ( I know the water, and dive mask magnifies the fish some, but not this much ). The shock of something that unexpected made me hesitate. It had long white & gray streamers off it's fins like big African Pompano's do, and it was all scratched up on it's sides from it's age. By the time I decided to shoot, it was out of the range of my speargun's shock line. I didn't have it attached to a free-swimming small red bouey, this time, like I usually do when I go for the big ones off shore. I swam my @ss off after it until I was exhausted, but it was hauling ass with just the slow, easy movement of it's huge tail. It didn't even get spooked by the whole thing.
If I had taken the shot, it would have probably ripped my mask off with it's first lunge, and that would have probably been the last time I saw that particular spear gun, and the Pompano too! Sometimes things work out for the best though. After some reflection later on, I was glad I didn't shoot that big old warrior, and let it live out it's days.
That old '60's Chevy pickup I told you about is still there. I can't afford it right now, and wouldn't have anywhere to keep it, anyway with my two other toys here. It's definately a jewel in the rough, - perfect for someone to restore, but they must be asking way too much, or it would have been gone by now. I pass it every day on my way to work & back.

I was wondering where ye'd run off to! I figured you finally broke down and got one of them old Chevy trucks you been lusting after recently and been in Chevy truck heaven since.
Yes, I'm very familiar with the big name pc products out there. Not much better than Ferd really, a whole lot of hype and feel-good stuff but as soon as you bought it you find out it's just bs and headaches and a struggle just to keep it working.
Have you caught the recent show on 'Trucks' with the YJ build-up ? Yes, it's not a mistake, I said YJ. It's interesting, if not tragic, to say the least. I think they should call the show something like "how to make a silk purse from a sow's ear" , or "how to squeeze blood from a turnip".
Stay in touch brother!

Yeah, without my computer things were pretty miserable.
I also haven't had cable TV for over a year now. There's only one cable co. to deal with around these parts and they have pissed me off so many times, so I said the hell with them. I may eventually get it back though because (regular) TV is getting very boring.
I guess I'm not really missing too much from (Trucks) as you put it. I used to always watch it when Stacy David was running the show.
I'm not a big fan of the (Jeep YJ), uglyest thing ever with the stupid looking square headlights and the rest of it just doesn't look right to me.
What did they do to it, did they put a lowering kit on it with some big ass chrome dubs with low profile tires and hang a stuffed #### cat where the truck nuts go? They probalbly will put a fart pipe on it next along with coffee can exhaust tip for the young crowd.
I finally bought the tires for the Ferd Ranger a couple of weeks ago, but haven't installed them yet. I'm trying to get some money together to buy the wheels that I want. They only cost $40.00 a wheel plus lugs, locks, and two center caps to hide the wimpy auto hubs.
Money has been pretty tight these days and sometimes I just get by. That's why the tires are in the house and not on my truck.
See ya, Brother!

You ain't missing nothing with cable neither. 600 channels with absolutely nothing worth watching on any of 'em. Some days I just keep flippin channels until I git to the 599th one and it's got something that just barely holds my attention. I ain't no sports nut, or a nascar nut neither. The rest of the channels are about folks who lost 150lbs. in the last five minutes using this here crap in a jar!, ...or reality tv. I can set mmy @ss in ront of a winder instead of the tv and git all the boring reality I want! Bored to tears!!
Stacy David was good, but these fools are the worst! Theyr'e rigging a YJ for 37-inch meats! All that money wasted on all that pretty blue suspension steel tubing, coil over shocks, rear susspension, etc..... A forture in parts peed away on a YJ !! They might as well did the same work on an Element! Same dog crap, different dog !!
Then, after they're done they leave the Dana 35 axles on it!! WTF ??
I know where your'e coming from on the lack 'o funding thing. I did the same with my lift kit. It sat aroung in the garage for months until I got all the other parts and tools I needed to get it done. The worst session was when the wife rolled over my old '76 K5 years back and I didn't have any friends with a truck big enough to tow my big @ss bear (offshore boat) to the boat ramp. The boat alone (without any gear or fuel ) weighed 5600 lbs. The trailer was about 700 lbs. All the crap I had to take probably came out to around 500 - 600 lbs. The K5 would get hot every time I towed it before she rolled it. The trailer had dual axles and HD heavy load range tires, and I had too much tounge weight on it as it was. I couldn't afford to have the truk ( assembly with both the axles ) moved forward a bit to fix that. It was pretty frozen (rusted) to the trailer frame, so I was afeered that I would snap something I couldn't fix later, if I took that thing on. - You know how that old thing goes...'Sometimes you get the bear, and sometimes the bear gets you'!
So I went almost a year before being able to buy my current '77 beast for $1500 bucks. It wer'nt purdy, but it was a great, reliabble horse for my wagon (boat).

After I posted a message to you, I read about the (YJ) so-called build-up in another thread.
37's on a stock Dana 30, and 35, what a bunch of idiots!!!!!
I'd take my Ferd Ranger any day over a piece of crap Jeep YJ.
I've heard on this forum, Stacy David was getting ready to start a new show called (Gearz)???, do you know any thing about it?
If it's true, a least he could spell it like it should be, instead of sounding like (What Up Yo?) (You Know What I'm Saying?), (She Got A Phat Ass) etc.

Yea, It's pretty surreal dude! Definitely file under the heading of WTF ??!
I think Stacy David may be trying to cater to the bling crowd a bit too much. You can't have it both ways, either your'e bling, or performance truck. If you try to do both it ends up as an abortion. - He tryin to be one of the boyz in da 'hood! Yo Yo Yo ! He wuz going to call hisself 'Vanilla Ice' but that was TAKEN ! Yo ?
I recently saw a clip from one of the "Truck Universe" shows - What a *** joke! - hurdy and gurdy were talking about installing a comp cam on some street poser ride and they actually said: "old engines like the Chevy 350 are dead and gone". I almost fell off my bar stool dude! These people actually host a show named "Truck Universe" ?? I think I'll change the channel back to the YJ build to see if those yokels snap the cheesy Dana 30 / 35 axles trying to back that thing with 37's out of the garage. That's what they should have done - A build-up on a 'VW Thing' - it's not that far a stretch from a YJ project !

You should go to the(Four Wheeler) forum and have some fun with a certain person on this forum that thinks he knows everything about anything. (AKA ,The Snoman)
He never posts anything to be answered, just answers questions written by other people.
Since you and I like to argue with people about stuff that we know works or doesn't work, it could get very interesting.
Lets just say you start a thread about high flow air filters or a free flowing exhaust system that you know by experience improves engine performance and I definately know that he will tell you that you are wrong.
He is smart about certain things, but other things he will argue until the BIG fat wife comes home!!
I believe that you will enjoy the experience at Four Wheeler.

On my way back from taking a drive to Farmer John's to buy 5 lbs. of shrimp to feast on, I got on the main drag (Route 40) in Whitemarsh, MD. to head home and noticed a set of wheels & tires on someones front yard for sale.
I got right on top of them when I actually spotted them and didn't have time to stop. I never did turn back around though ,( Had Shrimp On The Brain).
They were the old school white spoke ones with tires installed, probalbly bald ones (4) for $50.00
I'm not too crazy about white wheels, pretty dam ugly in my book! ( Black Paint)
I'm going to go back tommorow to see if they are still there and if they are, check to see what size they are along with the bolt pattern and backspacing.

Sorry, I had the soggy bottom blues again ! - you guessed it! - work! I been gettin pretty dull lately, that's for sure.
No, I don't live in da 'hood, and never did. I'm a good 'ol fashioned corn-fed hick! I just don't get into Nascar - weird ain't it ? I just don't see the attraction of watchin cars go round & round & round & round. Sorta like watchin a tennis match - back & forth & forth & back. - Same goes for B-Ball. There's no strategy like football or baseball .
I cought your marathon chat ( 29 new posts ) on huntin, grave-diggin, and ferds. People who drive ferds are like folks who go to fortune tellers - they have very short memories, and mostly overlook all the crap they experience - in my opinion.
Them cheap white rallie wheels got me out of a bind during tight times. I got a used set of 33-inch BFG's with some meat left on 'em mounted on white rallies for $100 total. Back then nobody had black rims, so I would have been the first on my block, or probably first on my planet. I got some American Racing chrome rims later and some Kelly Safari's - not a bad tire, and lasted forever. The AR rims were a pretty cheap plating - I found out after putting my boat in the water one day during low tide. The exhaust pipes were just above water. Rims started to rust the next day.
Talk to ya later brother!

I'll have to give this guy a run for his money then!! I'll post: - "I have a stock 350 with dual 4-inch exhaust, and have absolutely no power loss due to back-pressure loss! Should I buy the Fram or K&N air filter for my ride ?"
Those of us who do know EVERYTHING just hate people who THINK they know EVERYTHING!! - Once I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken!
This guy must rate one heck of a salary, if he knows everything and never makes mistakes! He should apply at FERD corporate! They've been going nuts looking for this guy - for the past 20, or so years!

I myself watch the Nascar races sometimes.
I used to hate tennis, but I have been watching it lately, weird ain't it?
Don't really like B-ball or football. I do like to watch baseball and pretty much any other sport that has an engine.
But when you only have ( Regular TV ) there's not many choices. Channel (2) doesn't come in worth a crap. The only channels that I have are 11, 13, 22, 24, 45, and 54. Until the cable co. can give me a great deal, I will just have to settle on what I have.
