No dude!! if it's a rental truck or a company truck you 'tear it up' dude! Put it through it's paces, and find the 'edge' of that engineering envelope! You don't want to do that on a personal vehicle, and if you go test drive something at a dealer you get to go with a sales geek, so you can't peg it, or throw it in a ditch! " If it won't go force it! If it breaks it was no good anyway! " - just practice a dumb look for when the wrecker brings you and the truck back, and say " I don't know what happened!!" The mud all over the truck may take some creativity in explaining on your part:
The best explanations are something involving some sort of wild animal - depending on what species are around where you live - In my part of Florida I would use: " A big hog ( wild boar ) ran out into the road in front of me, so I had to swerve and the truck went off the road ( ...for several dozen, or so miles) ...before I could find a way to get it back on the highway" - I'd believe that story any day of the week!

Yes, but you need to put some attitude into it! Make the wheels chirp or hop, turn some neighbor's heads!
4X4's are built to make people stupid - just like most motorcycle drivers! The average IQ drops 10 points, or so when you get behind the wheel of a decent 4X4 - It drops to somewhere around room temperature if you get on a bike! - personal experience dude! - no offence to anyone else out there.
It is difficult to wipe the silly grin off your face the first time isn't it ? I just couldn't hold that Clint Eastwood poker face , personally.

When I drive company vehicles, I treat them as if they were my own. This is just the kind of person I am. Just think if you owned that company vehicle and some young punk was tearing the crap out of them and they were always in the shop being repaired. Thats less money in the owners pocket and maybe mine too (re: raises, employee incentives, etc, etc, etc)
Everytime that I got to test drive a vehicle, at least 90% of the time, I always got to go by myself. I've even had the opportunity to take the truck home for a few days just to see if I'm really going to like it and also to check it out real good to make sure I'm getting what I paid for. I always ask to take the truck home for a few days before I would consider to buy it. If they say no, I say see ya, I'll go elsewhere, but this has never happened.
Oh, I forgot it did happen once and it was at Carmax. I'll never go back to that place again. I was looking at another Chevy S-10. The sales guy wouldn't let me take the truck for a test drive by myself and when we did go, he only let me drive the truck for about ten minutes. Of course he said that I could not take the truck home either. Another thing that sucks about this place is the set prices on the vehicles that they sell. NO NEGOTIATIONS ON PRICE WHATSOEVER!!!

I saw the ad for the Chevy Luv again, it now says it needs a new fuel pump and the price is $350 FIRM!!
A Suzuki Samurai with 33's? WTF? The little 4-banger was probalbly screaming for mercy along with the high gearing. Please stop the pain, PLEASE STOP!!!!!!

Long time, no hear from you. Must be working very hard or hardly working and having fun for a change.
I've been getting along with the Snoman so far, but this too shall probalbly pass like a corn poopie!!!
I'm going to do some fishing today along with a little bit of boozin and maybe do some wheeling. Can't do too much wheelin as my tires don't have that much tread on em. I'll probalbly just drive around on the main dirt roads. Some of them are just a little bit nasty, but I know that I can make it through.
I'm going down to the canal and enjoy a nice but somewhat chilly day.
See ya brother (maybe?) (work) (no fun) (work)

lets see if u guys can tell me what brainiac compnay decided to do these following things.
1. put a 2 piece flywheel that is held together by rubber on their line of diesels in 93
2. make one of their gas engines into a diesel by plugging off the spark plug holes and upping compression.
3. has 8 out of 10 of the worst V8's ever made
4. for many years has had the worst diesels ever made.
5. has such a soft suspension on their half-tons that towing anything squats the rear so much that ur low beams are signalling UFO's
6. has replaced the engine in my 2500HD work truck 4 times in the last 12 months and they still don't run worth a poop and has no power to pull with.(once the lease is up i'm 150% going with a different brand)
if you can tell me which company has done these bonehead plays, and that u still think they are great. u really do go on faith.

Would that be GM?
I wouldn't buy any new truck or car that is made in todays world, that includes a Chevy.
Redbeast and myself only like the old iron. (Chevy Of Course) 60's, 70's and some of the early 80's.
I hope your not thinking of buying a new Ford. I'd rather take my chance with an old Chevy than anything else if I were in the market for a different truck.
I think you may have got'n a hold of a LEMON. There are lemon laws, but they are different from state to state. My brother in-law has a 2500HD with the 6.0 V-8 and has no problems at all.

BTW, Redbeast, its not the wheelbase that we are measuring, its the wideness of the frame from outside edge to outside edge..........
Driver's side to passenger side frame width!!!!

I was doing some research on the early 80's S-10's when the Chevy Luv history started before it. The (LUV) name in short stands for ( Light Utility Vehicle).
The LUV came into this world in 72' with a 1.8 4-banger with a two barrel carb. that had 75 hp. at a screaming 5,000 rpm's with 88 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm's with a 4-speed manual trans.
In 76' a 3-speed auto was introduced.
In 77' the 1.8 was slightly better at 80 hp.
In 79' 4wd became an option.
Motor Trend named the Luv 4x4 as the magazines (second) truck of the year in 79'.
These guys must have smoked toooo much wacky weed when they came to this conclusion!!!!!
At another time, it did come in seventh place out of seven trucks. Now this is more like it!!!!
The Luv did zero to 60 mph in 17.4 seconds and the quarter-mile time in 20.7 seconds at 64.3 mph.
1982 was the last of these Izuzu built TURDS!!!
I posted these facts for your laughing pleasure.
See ya Brother, Hopefully?
