hey everyone
i gotta 79 chevy k10 scottsdale n i cant decide what i wanna do to it
im curently 15 in high school, n got a job lined up fer next summer. i dont have a big i want some looks but reliability. im probably gonna be out in the mud and some rough driving at times but its gonna be a daily driver too
some of my ideas:
to hold up to the abuse im gonna throw at it im working on a deal with a guy i know that has a 79 k30 scottsdale that haz a bad body on it but might sell it to me and i will transplant drivetrain.
i waz thinking somethin like a 2 to 4 inch lift kit. if i get a lift kit i will get new springs all around due to sagging of stock springs.
at stock height i can stuff 32x11.50z so with a 2 in lift im guessing 33x11.50z and how about 35z with a 4 inch or would you have to minorly trim some of the fenders. with the tires i will regear it properly
fer the front end im gonna try to addapt a bumper that i bought from my uncle off of an older jeep wagoneer it has an old warn beleview winch
what company offers a good roll bar (preferably black) for this truck for under 200 bucks or would i be better off building one from scratch out of 2 inch diameter steel tubing thatz 1/4 inch thick and hiding it under a truck cab spoiler from lund
well theres my ideas and questions. so any advise, things i should look for, or suggestions are welcome

first off ditch the cab spoiler, and the bed mounted "roll bars" are only light bars.. i wouldnt trust them to hold up much of anything.. a good roll bar will be mounted in the cab and have adequate triangulation.. the bed mounted "roll bar" will just give you a false sense of security. If you are going to lift it, go with atleast a 4".. 6" may require more mods.. steering correction.. if you keep your 1/2 ton stuff.. you should be ok with 35"s and mild off roading..

Make sure you tie your roll cage into the frame. Custom or bought is fine. I recomend you buy one that has been made and reinforce it unless you can weld really good, or know someone that can. I wouldn't go much bigger than 33's. 35's might be even a little to big, unless mom and dad are gonna pay for your gas money. I put 33's on my jeep and gas mileage hit the floor. Remember that you are gonna have to regear. If i were you i'd buy a junker and just trash the hell out of it.

dont cut to fit tires, lift the body, some people dont like to but i use hoockey pucks and galvenized steel washers same size as the pucks, and there made from the same neoprene as the rancho lift kit. and beware of chsanges in gear and steering linkage, and if you lift the body its not as hard on it as a suspension lift. and no "show" roll bars youll want a good interior bar if ya role it. re-gear and drive train allignment is a must also, you dont wanna be throwin u-joints and drive shafts and since it isnt a manual it will be pot metal tranny and transfer case and the first time you throw a shaft at any speed you crack it all. maybe even stemless valve stems on the rims, high lift jack a must also that spare wont do ya n e good if the jack wont lift it.... and if you use very many lights run a seperate alternator and battery for lights only dont put it into the truck power curcuit, but youll have to make a mount from no less thsan 1/4 inch steel driven from a longer belt or a seperate belt if you have room on the pullies like the old a/c belt area this will make it to where you dont have to worry abot over loading your power system and cold run a stereo off it too..... hope all this helps if ya have n e more ?s e mail on profile.....
